i used to be in the union for over 18 years and am eligible to two small pensions between miami and tampa. i have not been associated with the union for over 8 years because like someone said above, they have outlived their use as a negotiating body and someone there to protect the workers. i found that out first hand when the business manager came down on one of the last jobs i was on and tried to get me fired because the other lazy a$$es didn't want anymore work from the general contractor we were working for and i was trying to convince them that we could do the work. other guys got fired and i stayed because of that fiasco. but that was the beginning of the end for me. as far as york goes, no offense to the people that work there but they should move it just because spector wants them to stay. that would help get rid of him. |

Although HOG stock has done very well this year, I am not sure there is a lot more to go after these recent moves. |

Badlionsfan I hear you brother. I too am a shop steward in the IAMAW. Talk about the worst job in the plant! Trying to keep the peace can sometimes wear on you over the years. I too see both sides of the issue. I too hate it that the Unions have become the cash cow for the Democratic party. But on the other hand I've been offered a salaried position several times and have turned it down. I'd rather sweat all Summer than sit behind an air conditioned desk and put up with the way the company treats their salaried people. No way, they treat them like crap and then wonder why I want to stay in the union. In most companies the union membership needs their union. If companies were fair there would not be a need for them. The reason non union shops treat their people semi decent is because they want to keep them. If someone is good in their trade they can go where their talents take them and money talks! Now I'm separating the union membership from the Union hierarchy. Those clowns think they are on the same level as the elitist that want to control our lives but when the government gets that power they will throw these clowns to the dogs. I just wanted to try and show there is a third side to the story and I'm there. |
