Check out Youtube buellsportbikes. Some sad news was shared with us this morning, and we wanted to pass on this message from Erik Buell. Buell will be shuting it's doors. Their will be no more BUELL's made. This is dated for today on youtube.
If Harley is reading these posts let me say this. Many Buell riders are also Harley riders. As a group we are experienced passionate riders who enjoy technology and performance. I'll ride my 1125r until I can't get parts for it any more. I often overlook the Harley in the garage in favor of the Buell. I am due for a new Ultra next year. I will remember Harley's decision to cancel Buell and their "commitment" to innovation and technology when I buy a new touring bike. It might be my last Buell but it is also probably my last Harley.
Jjr1125, that's the way I feel too. I've been looking at a new Fatboy, no more!
This is the last straw for me as far as Harley is concerned. Between the crappy way they perceive their customers, the price hikes, the interest rate hikes at Harley credit, and heavy handed union thugs, the short sighted narrow minded vision, and now the way they've done Buell, I'm done with Harley.
Good old Hardley Abelson, they never had a clue what to do with something like Buell (let alone MV). Thank you, Erik, for having the drive and determination to bring us such a long line of rowdy, great handling, just plain fun motorcycles in what must have been a long, uphill battle. As for HD, screw them. Maybe we'll get really lucky and see Buells sold alongside Ducatis, Triumphs and Moto Guzzis like they should have been all along.
Ebear, I am sure Eric is "think tanking" this as you say. Please go to Buell and HD news in forums and find my post: Lets be proactive. We, us, Buellies, are conspiraring.....
I've been riding Buells for 9 years. My goal was to put a HD in the garage next to my 1125 within the next couple years. No longer! I'll probably go with a Victory for a cruiser. My girlfriend has always wanted a softtail deuce, but after she heard/saw everything yesterday she's now listing the Victory 8ball as her dream bike.
Go to any motorcycle company and you'll see the same thing. Sportbike sales have dropped off much more dramatically than cruisers due to the economy. It is unbelievable that HD is willing to make the same mistake with Erik twice.
