Squidbuzz, the money collected WAS use for Monday, which was FOR the elves. The bill was paid in full, with a bit leftover, to be used up at a later date, at which elves will be attending. Are you looking for some kind of refund? |

Many of you will never see it but the 2011 Buell has been the pinnacle of everything those folks worked for Thats fine but when can we hear some details? |

Yea, I read that post. It's still short on details. How long must the former Buell employees remain silent before they can tell all?? |

Are you looking for some kind of refund? Probably a little un-called-for Jk. I think Squidbuzz was just under the impression that the money would all be given to the elves in some way on the Last Ride day. It sounds to me that he is just wanting it to go to the cause for which it was intended. |

NO, I'm not looking for a refund. In fact, I'm one of the few that DIDN'T even get any of the food after putting in $20. I was one of the last people in the retail store and by the time I got to the food area, everything was gone except for a cookie or two. So, don't be harping on me about a refund. So, if there is surplus, how much we talking here, $20, $40, $1000? What? Sounds like quite a few people paid, so there was probably quite a few dollars floating around. The intent of the donation was to go to the Elves now, not down the road. Hey, if the surplus is hanging out somewhere, it can hang out in my savings account just as well as anyone else. Maybe Brian and Steve can enlighten us on this. |

If you don't like they way the people we trusted with our money from the start intend to further invest it in the Buell Community, including further free meals for Elves, you should take a refund and then step out of the conversation. I think a CD for the surplus is a great idea, investing in future events and having funds to do it is great, there won't be support funds from the big company in the future so we'll need to do it ourselves. Sorry you missed lunch Todd, my wife and daughter waited for me and only got scraps because of it. They didn't complain, neither will I. It was a really big deal for so many of us to be there for the company. It was thrown together as a last minute thing and the people who took care of the details should get thanks, they are trying to further invest in future events. Badweb is a community full of good people. Trust them. |

So to swing this thread back around to the topic sentence, let me tell you about my ride home from East Troy last week: Monday, 280 miles, a little bit of rain. Tuesday, 550 miles, frost in the morning in Iowa but beautiful through most of Nebraska. Wednesday: 2 miles to the U-Haul dealer, then 200 slightly nervous miles in a truck into a snowstorm. Thursday: 0 miles 'cause every freeway is closed out of Cheyenne. Friday: 400 grey-hair inducing U-Haul miles sneaking around to Laramie, then Rawlins, then down to SLC. Roll the 1125R down the truck ramp and collapse for the night. Saturday: 720 miles, going from ice fog in the morning to 64 degrees in SE Oregon. The accessory seat and Uly pegs made it do-able, if not exactly luxurious. My deep thanks go out to the organizers of the Oct. 26th ride; I'm glad I was able to be there. |

I just got back by the way (2:15am), visited family overnight in IL then took a slow route through IA, then snowed in in Nebraska (80 and 76 were both closed for a while, 80 may still be closed now). I bought my daughter a costume in Denver and found a little community fair in Rifle for her to do some trick-or-treating. She was a real trooper, if I'd known the return trip was going to take so long I'd have flown her home with her mom. Lots of pictures to sort through. We saw a lot of corn. This was a cool event, Brian, Steve, and Nick (the banner was great) among others many get a big thanks! ODO shows 3,363 total trip miles. WOW! Wow Marinus, I should have traveled back with you, you beat us to SLC by a day! We took 76 to 70 when they opened it up. Stayed over another night in North Platte hoping we could take 80 but it never opened up. |

Damn Zac, we stopped at the Target on 144th Ave, prolly pretty close to you. I would have liked to have met you. I stopped checking badweb a few days ago 'cause I was so tired of being on the road. |

Late, but no less heartfelt thanks to all who made the Oct 26th Ride possible; especially Brian, Steve, the folks at Hal's, and lots of other folks whose names I don't know. It was an honor to be there. As a rider, I've never considered myself a "part of" any group. My wife and I had never ridden in a group of bikes that size, and certainly never imagined so many Buells in one place. Overwhelming. The 2010 Homecoming is a must-do. Thanks to Erik and Court for signing copies of "25 Years of Buell" for us. When someone mentions "Human Potential," I immediately think of Erik Buell. It's great to live in a country where his level of passion and talent can thrive, and I'm proud to own one of his machines. I look forward to his future creations; they will be great. Court Canfield and Dave Gess are superb storytellers, and we look forward to the next chapter in the Buell story. Finally, Thanks to the Elves for welcoming us into the factory for the afternoon. Friendly, unpretentious folks with a positive outlook in the face of adversity. Their passion and skill, as evidenced by the motorcycles from East Troy, will serve them well no matter where the future leads. Godspeed. |
