I just got off the phone with the manager at my local dealership...he assures me that I will not have any issues with warranty or parts availability, citing an internal memo from the mothership...he says that they plan to have full parts availability for 7 more years, and any needed parts can be gotten from the dealership. Harley is going back to doing what it has always done....cater exclusively to the chrome road couch guys...I guess bidness is bidness as they say down here. I do know that I will start hoarding parts...like it or not...I have spent my budget...and will have to get several years of use from Jezebel.... |

I have a trip planned for next Friday to the Buell factory in East Troy with my father. Needless to say I am NOT CANCELLING. I an going to show up with all of my Buell gear on, with photos of my bike, and tell Erik that wherever he goes and awhatever he has next, he can count on at least one sale from me! |

After all the mess Erik has been through, It hurt to watch his message I will never willingly sell my X1 I am at a loss for words.. perhaps If a new company spins up out of the ashes its LOGO should be a Phoenix I do not for one moment think that this is the last we will hear of Erik Buell, its just the beginning of a new chapter |

It might make sence for Can AM / PRB to purchase Buell, they have a atv and trike presence and the 450 Rotax motor that was rumored for the dirt bike. It would help to round out their lineup. They also have the 991 Rotax motor in the spider..... how close in dimensions is it to the 1125 motor? 991 for DSK and a punched out 1125 for superbike |

"maybe they're just dropping the "brand", and the bikes will fall directly under the H-D name?" Nope - as per the Q & A on the Buell website: Are any of the brand’s models going to be available as Harley-Davidson models? Harley-Davidson has no plans to produce Buell motorcycles as Harley-Davidson products. |

What a kick in the nuts. Yet another American manufacturer closing it's doors. Victim of a crappy economy. My heart goes out to Erik and all the employees and most of all to us. Oh yeah. H-D can go f%ck themselves. |

Sad & frustrating on so many levels. Yet, I can't help but wonder what will happen next? Buell's no longer being made at all? Doesn't sound right from the man with a 200 year plan. Guess I'll just have to keep my chin up until Erik shows us the rabbit he's pulling out of the hat. Here's hoping for a new Buell company without the HD baggage. |

This is like some sick joke. I cannot believe that HD Corp. would do this. I hope that Erik can find a way to wrestle the Buell line away and plant that seed one more time. There is a way to do it, and to do it successfully. I just hope that it happens. IMHO, I think the executives at HD who made this decision should be ashamed of themselves. |

P.s. easy on the H-D bashing it is not doing anyone any F^8$%#'g good. Does me just fine. From a dealer point of view, I can see the conflict and wanting to stay away from that. But as a Buell rider and fan, I have no love for H-D. Not the general worker, but management. |

HD owns 98% of the Buell Motorcycle Co. Efik Buell owns 2%. It seems to me he walks away with the name, logo, patents, ... Will a white knight appear to keep the team intact? |

Tom, I understand you are an HD dealer. Some of us have, to say it mildly, never been fans of the HD product line and were thrilled to get to buy an American bike that handles like an import. HD is for a different type of rider. We were just cut off. |

This is a sad day. I am sorry for Erik and all the Buell employees. HD is a business and this was a business decision. With 1125s selling at steep discounts and bikes just not moving much, I am not totally surprised. I hope some form of Buell motorcycle can emerge from this. My sympathies to all who will struggle financially as a result of this. |

NOT a fan of Obama but since he is such a fan of Govt. Bailouts, give Erik and the Elves the money to start up again and let them not the Govt run their company. It would be worth it to me to see Buell continue doing what it does best. |

Wow. I haven't felt this bad since I found out my dad had a heart attack. When I was shopping for a new bike in 2006, the Buell was the only thing that made me sign on the dotted line. I strayed for a few months, but came back to the fold. For once I felt like a company took pride in their workmanship and offered excellent customer service, now their gone. Thanks, Buell. It was an excellent ride. I was looking at a Harley Electraglide in the spring and I won't step foot in a Harley dealers doors unless I have to. |

I'm really confused by recent events. Just under a month ago, it was announced Erik was NOT renewing his contract with Harley: http://www.jsonline.com/business/59803327.html OTOH, his video this morning sure makes it look like he was completely blind-sided by this move. Knowing HD's corporate attitude, I can just imagine they'll hold on to every Buell copyright, patent, manufacturing contract (i.e.- Rotax), etc. to ensure that a new Buell motorcycle company can't be created. Still, I'm sure we haven't heard the end of this yet. |

Those are my thoughts exactly. I can't see HD allowing another company access to all the ideas and technology that Buell has developed for them...at least not a price another company would be willing to pay. |
