I'm thinking about putting my M2 back on the road. Its just sitting in the garage, I can't afford trackdays right now, and it is suffering from neglect. I'd like to hang the lights & such back on it & use it for "regular use" again for a while. The problem is I cut off the kickstand mount to make room for my rearsets. I really couldn't put it back in the same spot either, the rearsets wouldn't allow it. If I remember right, the XB's have the kickstand mounted to the base of the engine. Can anyone confirm that is right? If I can get the engine mount, I think I might be able to make it work. Thanks! |

I don't think the M2 would have the same mounting holes as the XB.... but the kickstand does mount on the bottom of the engine |

wolfie's right, there aren't any mounting bosses on a M2 lump for the stand, as the XB has them cast right into the engine case. Park next to wall? |

The Blast stand is mound to the engine cases on the back of the engine under the swing arm pivot. |

>>>there aren't any mounting bosses on a M2 lump for the stand That's correct . . . but there were during the early development phases. If you want to see what it looks like check out the cover of the CYCLE WORLD with the Yellow S1 Lightning on it. In order to have a bike on the cover in time for the intro a test mule was used. One of the cases where a R&D bike got "mis-photographed". The other was the 1008 literature where the M2 had the wrong shock. Stuff happens.

I've thought about it! I considered carrying a "field installable" post to hold it up when I'm not on it, but I'd worry about someone knocking it over. |

Use an MX triangle. Carry it bungeed to bike but you must always park it in gear. $15 at the usual places

That MX triangle trapped me once! I went to a cycle show about 10 years ago and saw a shiny new CR250 sitting there asking me to have a seat. I hopped on and held it upright and heard a thump to the side. oops. I forgot these things don't have kickstands. The triangle fell out and I was left there holding this damn thing up. I had to ask for help to get the thing back! ha ha ha! Owned by a 250 before it was even started. |
