So I've been wanting a road bike for a while now and I finally made the plunge and bought me a 07 Trek 5000. It has a carbon fiber frame/fork with mostly Shimano 105 components with a Shimano Ultegra rear derailleur. I have to change the pedals maybe the seat but this this is pretty mint. Been riding mostly a MT bike for the last 15 years but haven't really ridden it since blowing out my knee and having ACL replacement surgery. It's been almost 2 years since my surgery and now I'm 110% better than I was before the surgery. So I started riding my MTB again earlier this year with some road tires on it but it's no road bike. Can't wait to start racking the miles on this thing. Took it for a quick 5 mile cruise earlier and I'm in love. Here's my new toy.

Congratulations! (I'm just getting ready to drop some $$ on a trainer for the road bike I bought last year.) Looks sharp! I hear carbon makes for a great ride? |

Sharp Bike, don't know much about them anymore, used to work in a Schwinn Shop in 1980. I bet that Carbon Fiber Frame/Fork makes it light weight. Shimano still making top of the line components, very cool. |

I love Road Bikes, got about 15,000 miles on mine. Been saving up for a new Pinarello Dogma, it's only $18,000, but that does include Campy Super Record 11. |

Nice bike. I'm seeing a pattern here. Trek builds two wheeled vehicles in Wisconsin and started in a rented barn... |

I had a '96 Trek 5000. Good bike, 19.5 lbs w/o pedals. Good ride quality and little flexing in the bottom bracket area. RPM is your friend on the road. |

Not sure what the spokes are made of. From what I've read, the rims are on the low end side of things. That will probably be my first upgrade if I start putting money into this thing. Just finished putting on the new computer. Time to go for a ride Oh and here's a cool place to get bike stuff. www.jensonusa.com I use them for about 80% of the bicycle stuff that I buy. I've got a 5000 too. I think it is a '98. It was a gift to myself after I finished engineering school. I had wanted an OCLV framed Trek for so long when I was in school, had some time to ride, but no money. So I got out of school, now had money, and bought the bike only to become a desk jockey. I still have the bike though and have thinking about getting it cleaned up and hopping back on the saddle. It was the one year that the 5000 came with 9-speed Campy Veloce. The year before was 8-speed 105. The year after was 9-speed 105. Just one more great bike from WI that's in my stable . . . |
