I like the look of it except that exhaust. Interested to see the pricing on it. |

I'm sure it will be a fine bike, just like most Hondas.....but it will have about as much character as a refrigerator. With all the uproar over how ugly the 1125 muffler is, people should REALLY hate the VFR unit. As long as it works, I don't care. |

Wow. They totally effed that bike up. Looks more like a new Blackbird than VFR. Looks big. Looks heavy. Looks ugly. |

It sorta looks BMWish. The exhaust can would have to go, but I'd bet this would be a great sport touring bike. We did a Rustic Road ride with a gal who had a VFR 750 and it was a very nice bike. |

my second bike was VFR750. I really enjoyed it. Fast enough to be stupid, comfortable enough to ride all the time. In hindsight it was a silly second bike (got it after learning to ride on the street on a ninja 250..). But I did have a grand old time on it. |

My first bike was a VFR. That thing has some interesting aspects but it doesn't induce a craving. They made the bike the way the europeans would do it? I'm guessing BMW was their model? Seat looks it. It has that smooth sorta bland aspects of the K1300S. They should have made a street rc211v. |

"The Ultimate Honda" ??? Didn't they say something like that about the the mighty Rune? Just like the Fury, nice idea but too late and poorly executed. Character: The quirks and annoyances that motorcyclists accept in their bikes that they would never tolerate in their cars |

Character: The way a bike speaks to you as you ride it. How it envelops you in the riding experience. The feedback and feel you get from it. Has nothing to do with quirks and annoyances. If I get on a bike, crank it up, and go for a ride and feel NOTHING. Then it's not the bike for me. I also like character in my cars. That's why I drive a diesel. Love the way it sounds and how it pulls like a freight train. Even love the smell at the pump when I fill it up. Ah....character! (Message edited by chadhargis on October 08, 2009) |

+1 Chad. There are lots of people that think Buells are ugly and wont buy them for that one reason. Its the same way a person looks at a cruiser vs a sportbike. Some will say the cruiser is the best and some will say the sportbike is best. That is what makes the motorcycle world great there is a bike for everyone. But when looking for a bike it has to call your name and make you think about all the time. Kinda reminds me of when I first demoed a Uly. Thought it was the coolest thing on 2 wheels. Them I test rode a FJR and was super impressed. Then started thinking about the Uly again and more since the comfort kit came out. For me it will come down to insurance price, payment and is the better half able to mount the Uly and be as comfy as she was on the FJR. |

From the spec sheet it seems like a pretty impressive bike. Changing the cylinder layout is clever packaging, one of those things you wonder why no one thought of it before. Less than 90 V angle and offset crankpins is cool, as is SOHC + 4 valves (a bit of a Honda specialty). I'm curious to hear ride impressions of the dual clutch gearbox. Like the above comments I'm generally not a Honda fan either because they tend to refine a lot of the character out of their bikes - great bikes, easy to just hop on and ride... and bland... But at the same time I love v-fours and I would really love a VF1000R, VFR400R or RC30 . This new one isn't really my kinda thing, though the tail section looks cool. Pity the front looks like a dugong...

Looks like a Victory Vision Fairing, the back looks like they copied it from Buell XB. Just my opinion. |

Pretty sure this is intended as a K1300/ZX-14/et al.-killer. I wasn't aware it was a big enough market to justify the kind of development cost this bike clearly represents. Must be tho' - Honda doesn't make a lot of mistakes when targeting a specific segment. Which is not to say they always compete successfully... |

Hmmmn...comparing specs to the BMW K1300, this doesn't seem to quite measure up. Honda: 170 hp/95 lbs./ft. 577 lbs. BMW: 175 hp/103 lbs./ft. 502 lbs. Having said that, the Honda has some technical features that seem to offer advantages. Pretty sure it's more comfy too. And it may also come in at a better price point. We'll see... |

Maybe it's not aimed at one bike in particular? I do wonder which bikes it will replace though... Blackbird? ST13? VFR800? It does seem to be Honda's new technology flagship though. Styling seems to fit in with current CBR1000RR. A few more pics from motorcycle-usa.com

Its definately different.... I kinda like it... You have to admit the single sided swingarm is still sexy looking.... Even at 577lbs... it should still have plenty of power to do the job... IF they would have designed the front end a little more sportier.... they would have had a sure winner... Will be interesting to see how much $$ it is.. Matt (LEO SOUTH GA.) |

Interesting. I dig the rear wheel, especially on the exposed side. That muffler is crazy! Why is it that the Japanese imagine that the bigger and uglier something is, chrome is the answer? LOL. A combo brushed finish and flat black would do that monstrosity a world of good. I really like some aspects of the fairing, but the integration into the front turns goofy to me. Not my cup of tea for sure, but a nice new bike. They go on about the sound of the engine, but when I play their sound clip, it sounds like an air compressor, very bland, no character, the kind that Chad describes. Excellent description Chad! |

I'm not in the market for one, but I dig it. It's more portly than the old VFR, but it offers a lot more motor. It should be quite a bit more nimble than an FJR1300 or Concours 14 while still being comfortable for hours on the superslab. It also appears to be very narrow through the midsection, so that should make it feel like a smaller bike. |

If you look into Japanese culture, they're seriously into their animation. Last I read, nearly 50% of everything on their TV networks is animated. Now, with that in mind, the Japanese are obsessed with technology. A large portion of their animation is geared around a genre called "mecha", which is basically about giant robots. If you watched much of it, you'd know that muffler looks identical to equipment you'd find on one of those giant robots. ~SM |

The VFR swingarm has always been pure sex . . . I'll bet it's a great bike. The VFR has, as much as the 1995 fanatics hated to see it, evolved nicely. The styling doesn't do a lot for me and I think it's be interesting to try to "hide" that exhaust with some black and gray paint. I'll be eager to read the reports and see how the VFR faithful respond. |

There was a pic of it with colour matched hard bags and top box, but I can't find it this morning. Something like this...
Yep, six-piston calipers and Honda's C-ABS . I've never been a fan of "combined" braking systems, but from reports I've read on the new "sport" ABS setup on the current CBR600RR and CBR1000RR it is very, very good. Yep, muffler is a bit... OTT. Single swinger is sexy though...

If you have owned a VFR and loved it, then you probably understand it. It is a motor that has stood over the past 20+ years, time to go bigger,ie-V-max! Both VFR's that I owned were with ot a doubt fun and comfortable bikes, for there time. It will be interesting to see how competitive it will be. No Doubt it seems there going for the sport-TOURING rather than the SPORT-touring aspect. Hard bags will no doubtedly be an option. |

I like it. Tail doesn't seem to fit and the muffler is kinda icky but otherwise I like it. Would love to see hard bags on it. |
