>>>Isn't advertising for a mobile sales unit going to be a pain? You tell me. When no one else would sell Harley-Davidson footwear on the internet my cousin took them on about 7 months ago. He's selling about $140,000 per day and has racked up 25,000,000 points on his AMEX card. I'll see him in two hours and let him know it doesn't work. We're going ahead with the "pop up" anyway . . HD has already agreed to foot the bill. |

Sounds like a great idea from what I have read on the Internet. Some major retail players are adapting this idea and taking advantage of the current situation. |

I'll tell you another . . . and Lord help me I confess I'd never have what it takes to do this . . . The yahoo cousin found "overstock" inventory of about 350,000 sets of what I can only describe as size 28 XXXL fishnet crotchless "full figured" bodystockings in Viet Nam. He bought them all for $0.28 a set. He hired a group of models who "come to work" late on Saturday nights in a warehouse in Brooklyn and is selling the darn things for $35.00 a set on the internet. Like he explained . . . "lingerie, when used properly, is a one time use" commodity. Two 22' FedEx trucks are backed up to the warehouse every day at 5:00pm when they ship. I'm a construction worker. Dull suits me. |

Um....not sure how this "pop-up" thing is going to work for the owner who has a broken 'Cycle now or wants warranty service now. Is it going to be kinda' like 'dial-a-bus'? I think not. Complex machinery in the hands of ordinary consumers needs full-time support, m'thinks. But, what do I know....I just sell staples for a living. |

Not a bad idea Court. Hope it comes about. Some obstacles but very feesable. Hope it will have the mother company's approval and support. For us here in Utah a new thread is started in the Storm Fronts here:"http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/37/ 502237.html?1255122638" |

C'mon, Court. You know you bought a "single use" set. I hear they're all the rage:

>>>Um....not sure how this "pop-up" thing is going to work for the owner who has a broken 'Cycle now or wants warranty service now. I'm not sure either . . . but "entrepreneurship" has always been my forte' . . . . I made my reputation in construction doing things other folks declared as impossible. I always enjoyed being THE only bidder on major ITS projects. The tougher the challenge the greater the opportunity for an amazing solution. I got a lot of it from my uncle the Astronaut . . . the guy was amazing. |

I was in Salt Lake city on business in May and had some time to kill so I stopped by the BMW and the Ducati dealerships. Both had nice showrooms and quite a bit of service activity that I observed. The BMW shop had the most demo bikes I've ever seen in a dealership and some of the GS ones had fresh mud on the bikes (thats what I call a demo!). Seems to me that that other brands are successful in that market selling bikes to the same kind of folks that would be interested in Buells. |

Well that's what I've said as well John. South Valley HD is just around the corner from the new BMW dealership at 9000 South off of I-15. Location might help sell the bikes but again, the bikes won't sell themselves. Court, I'm absolutely not trying to rain on your parade, which is why I tried to offer options/possible solutions to some of the questions I posed, I thought that you'd recognize that, sorry I can see it's not my place to try and help you and your innovation. Bring "Court's Buellership On Wheels" (great suggestion Oddball) through town and I'll still buy a shirt from you if I don't need parts; in the mean time I'll try and come up with a list of parts I need and keep it on hand for when you get here. I will spread the word as best I can, but I don't know that many people and tend to ride alone, so word of mouth will only go so far. Bob, the m is for Mike. I'll pop on over to the Utah thread now... |

"I'll see him in two hours and let him know it doesn't work." Did I sound that negative, or maybe you are looking for people to tell you it can't be done, that motivates some people, so maybe you were? PM me as this progresses and I'll try line you up with people from one of the larger local newspapers if you'd like, my wife worked there recently and and left on good terms. If you can get enthusiastic sales people like Daves, Ft_bstrd, and Cityxslicker you should be able to make it happen, but you'll need people to know you're there. I'm not an advertising or pr person, but if want to do it here I'll help where I can. I don't know a lot of people but maybe some of the people I know can also help you. |

Yeah, that's De La Hoya in front of the camera and a Russian hooker behind it! Court - the mobile dealer sounds interesting. Where there's a will, there's a way..... |

I bought my bike from the dealer in St. George. They are a branch of Las Vegas HD. Terrible dealer. Travis in parts was ok but he left. Everyone else there can suck a ! The day I bought my bike I had to wait an hour for a salesman to talk to me. WHy did he talk to me? He told me not to sit on the CVO bikes. I then asked why they weren't selling bikes today. He looked at me with a weird look and said "huh?" I said "I've been here an hour, I wanna ride the Lightning Long and maybe buy it." He then tried to tell me all these reasons they dont do test rides. This as I knew the bike I wanted to ride/buy had a few thousand miles on it. I told him I wouldn't buy a bike without being able to test ride it. He then asked how serious I was about buying. I had a fat stack in my wallet and these douches were doing everything in their power to make me keep it. I practically had to beg them to let me buy it. Don't get me started on service. Well since you did I better tell you one story. WHen I stopped in for a quick TPS reset the service writer came out and said he didn't see a GPS system on my bike. Need I say more? Zion HD! Well they did send a delicious box of brownies when I bought the bike. They are lucky all buell dealers suck/ there wasn't another dealer for a few hundred miles. Buell could solve every sales problem ever if they just got out of HD dealerships. OF course companies can look a solid solution in the eye and turn it down due to some stupid reason. |
