I have no place to put it, nor the money to pay for it, but I'd love to have a Fischer, "just because". The spec sheet may not be anything special, and it may look like something out of a sci-fi movie, but it's really, really grown on me. The idea of a seriously affordable, competent bike from such a tiny manufacturer has a very strong appeal to me. I just wish they'd do something about their website. It sucks balls. Looks like something you'd find set up on an old Angelfire account. I mean, c'mon, THEY MAKE THE BIKES, and most of their photo gallery consists of amateur pics. And "under construction" pages are so 90's. If you have nothing to offer, don't put a spot for it! But yeah, I want one. There are some rumors that they may be offering a 1000cc Hyosung engine to complement the current 650. ~SM (Message edited by swordsman on October 01, 2009) |

I know the feeling. Would be great to have TWO American sport bikes in the garage (the Roehr is way out of my price range). |

We saw one in the back of a pickup truck at the AMA races in New Jersey. We weren't impressed. The fit and finish was lacking. I'm sure, given some time, they will get that fixed. The factory is in Pocomoke City, Maryland. 2kx1 had been to the factory several times and knows the owner. If he doesn't catch this thread, PM him if you want to know more. |

First time I saw a Fisher I thought it was a bear cub. I know they have them in N Wisconsin near the Rez I worked at. Maybe extinct in Canada. Don't know for sure... |

We've got them in NH: These are pretty inexpensive: http://www.nhfishercats.com/ These are little harder to find: http://www.wildlife.state.nh.us/Wildlife/Wildlife_ profiles/profile_fisher.htm

The Fischer does nothing for me. It looks like way overdone import bodywork wrapped around a late-ninetys import sportbike frame stuffed with a Korean engine. If it's made in America exactly like the Japanese were making it 10 years ago, what's the point? |

'Xactly... They've been flailing about for years trying to get the brand going. Wannabe's without adequate resources. Like so many before them. |

Yeah, just like this guy in Wisconsin I heard about. Tried to start a motorcycle company out of a barn. What was HE thinking? Whatever happened to that guy anyway?? |

Motorcyclist magazine once said this was the most important American motorcyle. Hmmm.... Then again, they also predicted the water-cooled Sportster some three years ago. |

Why don't y'all come over to the Eastern Shore, we can cruise around the Delmarva Peninsula, ride down to Pokemoke City, and get them to set us all up with a test ride. If it kicks butt when I'm in the saddle, I can overlook all but the ball-breaking, "Nurse Diesel" gas tank. |

At least he is trying. Better than sitting around whining on the 'net about what crap all other bikes are, and what a great bike YOU could build (comment is not directed at any individual, BTW). Like many things, the reality is much tougher than most of us can imagine. |

Which is why Erik is entitled to at least twice the praise he gets for having succeeded where so many have failed. Having 'been there, done that' myself [the failure part (no, not Fischer)], I cannot be more impressed with his accomplishment. |

Yeah, just like this guy in Wisconsin I heard about. Tried to start a motorcycle company out of a barn. What was HE thinking? If Buell built and sold ugly Jap bike wannabes, then he'd be out of business. Apples and oranges. |

Maybe extinct in Canada. Don't know for sure.. Lots of them here in Canada. Laughed at the city folk here in Ottawa as they were all up in arms over a Fisher "invasion". --> Fishers will eat cats |

They were introduced into WI years ago to control porcupines and like any alien species they decided to thrive and go out of control. Turns out they eat lots of furry animals and most of them people and the DNR want around. Oops. Longest time it was see one you shoot it not sure what they say now though. |

Back to the bike. The bike has been developed TWICE. That is the reason it has taken so long to get to market. It is a badass bike and I expect them to do very well in the future as it is a lot of bike for the money. |

Why is it that any sportbike that isn't a Buell is called a "Jap wannabe" in here?? So it made more sense to build a sportbike around a fifty year old clunker of an engine that was undersquare and used pushrods?? PLEASE! Everyone enters the market the best way they know how. |

I just think it's over stylized, too pointy. There's nothing about the engineering in that photo, so I don't know from nothin' about the engine or the suspension or the ergonomics, so it just looks like something out of a video game. |

I liked them, till I saw one up close. And to think people complain about buell's fit and finish. |
