Make sure it's not a rocker box gasket... they can look the same, and the rocker box is a lot cheaper and a lot easier... |

Shock absorber and rocker box look the same???? Oil leaking down onto the shock? The X1 shock can still be ridden if the seals have blown but you're going to have to tiptoe. Getting a replacement will have to be by luck on short notice. Don't know about length differences between the different tubers. Gotta check around somewhat but doubt that it'll be easy to find anything between now and Monday. I have my old shot S3 shock that I replaced with a Works but its seals were shot so it won't do any good to UPS it to you. You CAN get a Works shock on pretty short notice (UPS overnight) - but you're going to pay almost $75+ for shipping plus the price of the shock. |

(sorry for the tangent... My M2 rear rocker box had a leak, and it worked its way down the engine, collected grime on the shock... so if you took a quick look at it, you would have thought the shock was leaking). Good luck John. |

Don't think an auto shock would work for a tuber even temporarily. Tuber shocks are pulled on when weight is applied vs being compressed like most shocks. Going rigid is probably your best bet unless you get lucky and find a good 14.7 shock locally. |

If you HAVE to find a shock for the weekend, I have one off my 2000 x1 that isn't being used right now. I can overnight it if necessary but would need to be reimburssed for shipping, and would need the shock back later. Let me know if you can't find anything else. Ill pm a contact # |

I've got a spare sitting on the floor of the garage, you are welcome to it if it will help you out. I can't speak for the condition of the seals but it is intact and there isn't a puddle of oil under it. The ride was a bit rough a couple years ago, it was a used part I got from another badwebber to get me by until I had my rebuild done. Never bothered to even check the adjustments of compression or rebound, nor did I set preload. |

The welds held two days with my big a$$ on it. Doesn't look good, but works fine. I'm going to take it off again, have it profesionally welded. I hit a big pot hole on Wolf Pen Gap and the front of the hole pushed the press fit of the shock tube off. We pressed it back in, the guy that ran the campground had a press and a MIG welder. He welded it for free. If you are ever near Blairsville, Ga. Trackrock Campground. The owner has several motorcycles, including a Buell that's for sale. Thanks for all your comments and help. It allowed me and my 2 sons our first time to ride the mountains together. They are ready to go again. |
