There have been several posters recently who write that they don't like the demeanor here and they don't visit as often. Without offering names or proof, these same people claim that a lot of people have left Badweb. Maybe true. Maybe not.

But what other Buell BB has a membership that is more giving, caring, enthusiastic, and helpful? I dare you to find one better. These are a few of our recent accomplishments:
* A donation fund for laid off Buell workers (in progress).
* A donation fund for a breast cancer victim.
* A donation fund for a brain cancer victim.
* Repeated care packages sent to our servicepeople in Iraq.
* Support site for the Honor Run.
* Support site for Sacborg.

Badwebbers typically go WAY out of their way to help stranded Buellers. One such member in particular has gone way above the call and duty time and time and time again.

Some members complain about the political huffings and puffings. Blake and the custodians have found an acceptable, albeit imperfect solution. Political and impolite threads get moved to the Backfire Board out of the gaze of the Googlebots. Although not obvious to everyone, the first line of defense is to simply not open a political thread.

Badweb is a lot of things. It is mostly about Buells and friends. It is also about tv shows, pc vs mac, photography, cars, hunting, and yes, politics.

I am proud to be a member of Badweb and thank Blake and the custodians for doing a great job.

All I need are some killer roads, some durable wheel bearings and 6 months of rainy mucky, muddy, dirty filthy roads.
Ya gotta look at that mountain road and say, Hey Bud, Let's Party.

Everything else is in perspective to the ride.
The plus side to unemployement? Free time to ride

I seem to be recruiting more riders every passing week as more of my friends lose their jobs. We are going to Sequoia National Park the weekend after this coming one.

There have been several posters recently who write that they don't like the demeanor here and they don't visit as often. Without offering names or proof, these same people claim that a lot of people have left Badweb. Maybe true. Maybe not.

I am one of those people who don't appreciate the way this place is going & I have no qualms about saying so.

As for names & proof, we can all read or we wouldn't be here.

I have no intention of accusing anyone of anything, or naming names it's not my place to do so, & I notice Reindog has wisely adhered to the same principle.

I make no claim about the number of people leaving Badweb as I have no access to that data.

However I am aware of a number of people from here who no longer frequent the place for varying reasons, some because they got fed up with the attitude, some because they got banned, others because their interests just changed, others are still members just don't come around much.

You can find some of them here, should you feel a need to. www.buelletinboard.com . This isn't a plug for a rival site if the mods want to pull this paragraph they may.

I'm just saying, the internet is like a town with lots of pubs. If I find the bar staff & a few of the clients disagreeable to me at times, I'll go elsewhere, it's human nature, & my choice should I wish to.

I'm not denigrating the good work that people on here do either I've been involved myself.

The point of my post in another thread, (Just Wondering) which seems to have spawned this one is that Folk seem to get awfully fired up from both sides of the political fence throwing so called facts & data at each other & descending to insult when it doesn't carry.
There have been people on both sides of your political divide at fault. You'll notice I say "your" I'm a disinterested party & have no axe to grind. I'm just sick of seeing, time & again threads starting off fine & then getting dragged down into political mud slinging.

In my other post I called for all to chill & act in a gentlemanly & unpatronizing manner, & also for a little introspection.

Reindog seems to have taken this on & moved forward with it by starting this thread, kudos to him.

I hope that by speaking my piece like this I can help.

Those of you that know me, know that I'm a very tolerant person & don't generally write long pieces, & don't like to get involved in this sort of crap, but I too have a lot of feeling for Badweb & wouldn't feel true to myself without giving it my best shot, rather than just walking away.

Badweb is a good place, there are many here who are helping others, that's one reason I've been enjoying this site for a number of years now.

Thanks to all who contribute to the positive nature here!

That's an accurate statement. I looked at that other website and the first thread I saw was a long and winding diatribe about Badweb . . . . ]

Same folks, same minds and yet someone was expecting different results?

Badweb has, over the many years it's been around, done a stellar job of "self moderating".

There are only 3 of us, George, Denise and I, who go back to the earliest Buell forum and it has certainly been interesting to watch them come and go.

I really like this place. I have been on here since 2004. and I really enjoy the conversations. I love that if there is something wrong with my bike i can ask on here how to fix it and usually find the answer. I love the fact that I get treated so good when I am deployed from you guys. I love being able to help my fellow badwebbers when they need it as well. weather it would be a question or loaning my manual to some one or if some one was broke down in my area I would be quick to go help them.

You guys are like a family to me (even though i have not met a lot of you guys)

my wife even comes on here now and has made a few friends on here.

sure i hate seeing all of the political threads all the time but some times it good because i find out what kind of mess is happening.

I've been in daily journalism for nearly 30 years and I hear all the stuff from the right and the left every day. I have good friends who think Obama is too centrist and just as good friends who refused to vote for McCain because they truly believed he was a liberal.

When I get tired of the politics and such, I simply close out a thread and move to another one.

Does it get tiring? Sure. Is it annoying? On occasion. On the other hand, it's entertaining and it's people using their 1st Amendment rights the way the founding fathers and their wives intended.

I stay here because the people are great, they know the bikes, they help each other out, even when they don't agree.

Besides, no one kicked me out when Buell disowned my Blast. That says something.

BadWeb is about helping people. Maybe people you have never met. It is about getting together not because you ride a Buell, but because you share a like minded idea of how a community or riders should act.

I am also frustrated with the false statements and elitist attitudes however, that is only from a few. I lurked on BadWeb for many years and the BadWeb helped me keep my 97 S1 on the road without them even knowing it. I finally signed up and decided I would help others when I can.
BadWeb is what YOU make it!

I was reminded yesterday about several smart Buell Enthusiast that we do not see on here anymore. It is a shame.

I love Bad Web too the connections you make and the people you meet here and then in person when traveling. I've met at least 7 this year all from out of state.
Then Bad web makes me realize how many states I've travel to and thru on my Buell, and how many miles I have rode on the Buells. Never thought about the miles until one thread was asking how many bikes how many miles. Cool thread cool topics.

Wow- this is the most love filled, positive thread all year!! : )

Awsuuummm!!!

Having spent the better part of 5 years selling HD/BUELL, I can safely say the people (including Erik Buell et al factory Elves I've met) who ride and love these machines are unlike any other "group" I've known. Sure, the politics get old/stale, but at our best we DO get around to talking about the better things, doing the important rides, and enjoying the cameraderie.

Let's work to keep it that way. If I want politics, I'll turn on the boobtube.

I LOVE YOU MAAANN!!!!

I don't hang here as much as I used to. Some of the bickering got a bit too much. BUT, when I lost my pop BadWeBbers sent many well-wishes and many have participated in Big Jim's Ride every Memorial Day weekend. I've tried my best to repay those kind actions by participating in causes like the fund raiser for Gordon Buhle and Matt Ware. Regardless of any differences I always make a lap through here at least once a week to catch up on things. A lot of friends I made in the Buell community(even before BadWeB was an e-mail group) still hang here. And, even though many of us no longer ride Buells this is still a cyber-home away from home.

I apologize for not mentioning Big Jim and Gordon Buhle. They are two more reasons why Badweb Rocks.

I first learned about BadWeb when the Ulysses was first introduced. I was talking to a salesman at Ukes and asked him a question about the Ulysses and they hadn't got Keith's demo back from his trip yet so the salesman told me to go on BadWeb and ask that question because he said if anyone would know the answer, BadWeb would! And he was right! There are so many riders here that had discovered all there is to know about the brand that it really helps answer questions that come up with the ownership of a Buell.

Keep up the good work!

No harm, no foul Reindog. It just goes to show how good the core of the folks who hang here is and all that's been accomplished since BadWeB hit the internet.

A lady, who had been Cindy's kindergarten teacher, approached us after the funeral. She stated that she had never witnessed the brotherhood of bikers and she felt we came to the call as a group better than her church ever thought of. It is a brotherhood unlike any other that I've known.

This joint kicks @$$! Lots of good free advice, some new friends, new roads what else do you want? I enjoy the politcal debates sometimes, sometimes they get old and annoying so I just don't read them. Not to hard to not open A thread, or close a thread. As far as the people here, I had a guy I never met loan me tools to get me back on my bike. How cool is that?
