I got an e-mail that said I have a PM from a member on this board but I can not find where it is located... Help... this forum is set up a bit different from what I'm used to. |

Go to Edit Profile and make sure Do not send PMs is not checked. |

ok, so the Pm's aren't stored on the site... so to respond you just respond to the e-mail? |

Correct! Which is nice, no need to log back into here. I setup a filter to guarantee that PM's go to my phone, so I can respond faster. |

I now understand how it works... The e-mail had only " j " so I didn't think I got any message... I now realize that the guy put a website as the subject and then just "signed" "J" (probably his initial) in the message.... It was my first PM from this board so i didn't realize how it worked... I'm all squared away now, Thanks guys. |

Yep that probably was it, here is a sample PM I recently got:
quote:You have received a private message from the following discussion board user: Tripp -------------------------------------------------- --------- hi frank! your scoop and decals are in! -------------------------------------------------- --------- If you would like to view this user's profile, use the following link:
There is some links after that about various ways to reply, but you can just reply directly to that email. If you have a Gmail account, setup a filter so that all messages containing "You have received a private message from" including the quotes to go to your inbox. This will prevent any spam filters from eating the message. Edit: looks like gmail changed the wording, it says Never send to spam. Here is mine setup (also applies a label for me)
quote:Matches: "You have received a private message from the following discussion board user:" Do this: Apply label "PM", Never send it to Spam
