Given the sketchy weather and the fact that it is cold for our northern friends, would a Buell date late in April be better? Would you guys attend? I know several here have voiced their frustration with the weather and have sworn off of March Badness. I DON'T want to lose a spring event. April is nearly always drier and definitely warmer. Bumpus HD/Buell has voiced an interest in picking up the mantle and hosting a demo truck date in late April. We don't know the location yet. Could be Suches. Could be somewhere else. I wanted to get some feedback from you guys. If we bagged the March Badness event and moved it to April, would that make you more likely or less likely to attend? If we didn't do it in Suches would a locale in eastern TN be as attractive? Let me know your thoughts. It's time for us to do the broad stroke planning for this now so that we can get the spots and truck reserved for next year. Thanks. |

April can be just as cold as March |

I understand, but the probability for warmer temperatures is greater than March. |

Asheville NC would be a fantastic location with loads of forgotten back road twistys, the BRP, and great food and entertainment available. The Dragon and other customary sportbike attractions are nearby as well. |

We may be limited to TN, but we can at least brainstorm. What about Little Switzerland, NC? |

I don't have a problem with March Badness. I'll ride rain, cold or snow flurries. But if the majority goes with April Buell's Day that is fine too. |

I would be up for it. Let me know where and when. If you do a scouting run I'd be happy to run with ya! |

Little Switzerland would be an awesome location! I was just there 2 weeks ago. Great section of the BRP and an awesome road right at town (226):
April Buells sounds great to me! |

I used to live just south of Little Switzerland. Most awesome roads, as a matter of fact, that's the area I learned to ride. Kind of sad about MB. Suches is local to me and much easier for me to get to, especially with my personal economy being what is is now a days. Y'all have fun! |

A few of us Maryland riders might be available. April is better. Check out the thread that I just posted. Need help with a few must ride roads in the Smoky Mtn's. Heading there in 3-weeks. |

If Bumpus is gonna foot the bill for a demo truck.... isn't there a road with a curve or two near Nashvegas? |

There are, but the roads get logarithmically more epic the farther east you go. |

107? 276? 215? 281? Do you know anything about 1397 & 1442? Most of this is east and southeast of Bryson City Thanks! |

the area around Ashville is Kick a$$ the area near Franklin NC is too, farther west in Eastern TN near Gatlinburg ( what I have seen ) is good bring maps to BTF =) remember the BRP is marked 45 and getting caught up there could be "expensive" as spirited riding on that pavement attracts "federal" attention |

OD, IMHO the BRP is for sightseeing, the best riding is found on the backroads. |

I would be a little more likely to come to a late April event than a late March one. Normally I don't mind the cold, and I don't mind the rain. But put them together and it's just no fun no matter how well you're dressed. And I'm not talking about Georgia, here. Last time I did March Badness, I was on my way home riding for hours through steady rain and below-freezing temperatures through PA and all the way home to NY. |

April's cool. Anything to dodge the spring showers. I went to MB last year and it rained out. I had planned to go this year but saw that it was going to be a wash out and just stayed home. However, I did go to Buelltoberfest last year and had a blast. I'm headed back next week for BTF3 with my recently Buell converted girlfriend. We're both stoked! |

I am a fan of moving to April. Temps are OK in March here, but the rain is a deal breaker that past few years. Little Swiss is great, I go there a lot, but is there anywhere to set up camp nearby? I don't recall. If we really wanted to get organized (?), there is a place called Deerfields (www.deerfields.com) near Mills River (just SW of Asheville, NC) that you can rent out. A local shop (ACME) just started doing this for a dual sport event they started last year. Never been, but it is supposed to be pretty nice. No idea what the cost is, however. It borders Pisgah National Forest, and is nearly 1000 acres. |

April would be great. Too many snow storms here in March to consider riding down. |

Whatever ride you're talking about, could you make it the last weekend in April? The 15th thru the 18th will be a Buell event at The Deal's Gap area. I was gonna wait 'til the end of the month to put that out there, but I guess there's no time like the present. |

The last weekend would probably be best. If it becomes the repetitive location like Suches, the last weekend in April has the greatest possibility of avoiding Good Friday and Easter weekend. |

Yeah I vote for last of April as well. This way it may not be raining and cold as others have said here already. As for location, Suches would be fine, but it really does not matter as long as everyone has access to the awesome roads in the areas. Just make it a neat place!!! |

April Buells in TN gets my vote for all the benefits Ft_B opened this thread with. I would target attending the event should it come together. |
