Just a FYI....do it yourself dryer repair kinda sucks... I had to replace the rear bearing on my dryer... That thing was sqealing louder than Nead Beatty.... The wife was none to happy! I kept spraying wd40 on it... and that would only work for a little while... then she threatened to purchase a new dryer... SOOOO I got off my lazy ass and bought the $26.53 part (that includes tax) and fixed it.... (saved about $300.. shouldn't I get to spend what I saved?!?!) Let me tell ya... putting a belt back on a dryer is NO FUN!!! That is how I spent half of my Friday off... now its time for a ride!! WOOOO HOOOO!!!! Later! |

Did you put a spring loaded tensioner on the belt? It can help the bearings last longer.

I had to do this recently as well. $4.99 shipped for both rollers with fresh bearings. They were $56 each for the actual Maytag ones (that failed in just a few years time)! I think that at going rates it would have cost like $350 to have a tech come out and do it. Thanks dad for teaching me how to do stuff myself! |

I had an old piston type water pump that a neighbor gave me for watering our gardens. It finally quite working one spring and I immediately wen down to my buddys house for a little guidence on getting a new one. He simply told me, "its already broken, why don't you take it apart and see if you can fix it?" Thats just what I did, and the thing is still working! |

Did you put a spring loaded tensioner on the belt? Froggy, UL2158, the standard for household electric clothes dryers, requires that a dryer has a means for providing tension to the belt. Hey this is the weekend - I'm not supposed to be working, 1313 |

Hey Wolf, maybe next time you will call me, although I haven't done any appliance repairs (other than my own) for 8-9 years, I do have 18 yrs of experience....(I also have a new belt hanging next to the dryer for when it lets go, but it's still running, so why mess with it ) Now you know why I don't fix appliances anymore and build grilles! |
