Obviously a friendlier ad agency than the current BoB marketing gurus. |

Categories are not important.... 1.Whatever goes upon two wheels is a friend 2.Whatever goes upon four wheels, or is a cruiser or a non sport bike is an enemy 3.No rider shall not wear the gear 4.No bike shall be built for an off track venue 5.No rider shall embrace chrome 6.No rider shall wear fringies or faux tats. 7.All bikes are equal. (Some more equal than others) |

Yes, I remember that ad campaign well, I've been trying to remember what year that was. It's amazing how much a company can change in just 4 years. From saying hello to ALL riders, to saying screw you if you ain't hanging in the corners... I know it's just a marketing campaign, but still, do we lower our values just to sell a few more bikes? Not really the kind of attitude I want to be associated with... |

I always thought the "hello" ad was lame. I always get a kick out of HD riders, with ape hangers, that have to take their hand off the bar, drop it way down low by their knee just to "wave" to me in the latest cool style. I laugh inside my helmet every time. I always think to my self, man, if you have to go thru that much effort to be cool, well, you aren't. |

I like to do the "Look at that Jackass wave" What ya do is... stand on the pegs and wave your left arm like its on fire!! I laugh my ass off and I wonder what they are thinking and laugh some more! |

Where does it say that? I must of missed that, my autographed copy of the BOB says
quote:It's ok not to wave back. Listen, we're not against waving in general. There are dozens of situations where a well-executed wave is in the best interest of all parties involved. If you should find yourself on the top tier of a parade float, or the deck of a departing cruise ship, or protruding from the sunroof of a stretch limousine, waving is the perfect way to let someone out of earshot know you care. But a Buell is not a social networking tool. It's a performance motorcycle, and it's meant to be ridden as such. So the next time someone with an extended swing arm and neon ground effects waves at you mid-apex, it's okay if you don't return the gesture. Your hands have better things to do.
It is saying its OK not to wave, especially mid-apex, for obvious safety reasons. It never said anything about giving the finger, or tell people to screw off if they aren't doing something. |

But a Buell is not a social networking tool. I didn't buy it to be a social networking tool.... but it sure has helped me be social with a LOT of people I would have never met on another brand of bike. |

One of the coolest parts are the odd (and trust me . . . . you would not believe the stories from James Taylor to Ted Turner to Harrison Ford to David Crosby) friends of friends you meet . . . . friends of Buell owners . . . like getting to meet your folks. Last week . . . I am helping a Buell owner with a service issue . . . we get to talking and I mention my favorite coffee shop . . . well outside NYC and I find out he owns the Ice Cream Parlor next door! Then we continue to visit . . . . he's telling me about commuting daily on his Buell and we start to swap work stories . . . . turns out he's head of aviation for the City of New York City and handles all the helicopters . . . so we're going sight seeing. Yesterday . . . I meet another Buell owner who I am currently working on a customer issue with . . in the City Bar . . . . we get past our "Buell business" and are half way through the cheeseburgers and it looks like he and I may be flying fixed wing together soon. Never fails to amaze me. By the way . . . the food was much better at your place. |

Its not. Neither is a nice pro grade tire changer, but both can make you friends if used in a certain way. |

If you find yourself trying to be cool....you aren't. Ride your ride, wave if you want, wear your gear (ATGATT!!!!) and don't worry about trying to sit at the cool kids table at lunch. Pretty soon they will be following you. |

I've done an experiment. I wear a black textile jacket with minimal HD markings (so while moving, you can't see logos) and I very very very seldom get the "hello". But when I wear this......... Every a-hole under the sun, waves, nods and shows love. Having a Harley is too cliquey for my liking. |

Good thing you weren't sitting at your desk because SITTING IS NOT A SPORT. Those last two posts are hilarious though. What a mental image. |

Who cares if Buell isn't nice. No ones been nice to Buell, nothing but smack talk from a lot of the community. Rub it in their faces that their precious super mad tight imports get stomped in the corners by our "POS Buell". |

Hopefully you're less enthusiastic about waving to HD riders than you were to me last weekend. Otherwise, I can see why they don't wave back |
