We use XP Pro at our other business on two machines networked. I think I like XP home better. More user friendly to me. I need to get a degree in IT as I maintain three laptops and a desktop at home (XP Home and Vista) and two XP Pro machines and an XP Home machine at our other business. How did I get this job?!?!?!? |

Blake, XP is on the way out and support is being discontinued real soon. It should of been done already, but the slow takeup rate on Vista pushed XP's sunset date back. Its the same reason nobody uses Win98, Win2k, or Discussware anymore |

XP Home is just Pro without all the domain and advanced networking goodies, to the end user you shouldn't see a difference. Remember Odie, you can always post here if you need help |

b) bought their Mac after June 8th (or something like that). False Sorry, you're correct. That is the upgrade price - the June date was for users who would get the update free of charge. So far I really like OS X even thought I'm still getting used to how things are done and haven't really gotten too deep into much. I think it's worth mentioning that Snow Leopard doesn't have much that's different to the user aside from increased speed, but the extra 7 gig you gain from it should be nice. So far, everything on my Mac is fast and smooth, which is far from what I can say about my personal or work PC laptops. |

yep, BSOD. It is way too common on a pc based machine, as noted b y it being a commonly used acronym As I noted, I've never seen it's equivalent on a mac and we've had the macbook pro for >5 years, the our first imac >2 years now and we use them fairly hard, even letting the girls (11 & 13) surf the net and play games on them. (SCARY, I know) This is the Mac screen of death....
I have managed to make it appear twice or three times in the last 4 years, but if you saw what I was doing at the time, then you would know that I deserved it. |
