Today is the eighth anniversary of the day that a group of religious fanatics decided to end their miserably pathetic lives by killing thousands of innocent people who did absolutely nothing to them. Please remember the victims today. |

Was up early this morning and said some prayers for our country and it's people. Almost said those that lost family and loved ones, but we all did in one way or another. It changed out way of life. Headed up to PA this morning to see Brian, whom just got back from his stint in Iraq, unscathed. Today's sunrise will be a good one. |

I watched the Steelers/Titan's game last night. Harry Connick, Jr sang the national anthem while showing the gaping hole in NY city and the memorial where flight 93 crashed. They had family members wearing Steeler's jerseys with "93" on them. I'll be damned if a tear didn't sneak in. That day was the most memorable in my life. I can still remember exactly where I was, who I was talking to and almost every hour of tv watching, peeking outside to watch an almost eerie quiet sky and to see hordes line up to get gas. I've never seen this country in such a state of uncertainty. (Message edited by Buellinachinashop on September 11, 2009) |

So much for freedom of speech about the meddling of our covert government. God Bless America, and God Bless our Great Soldiers who keep us Free! (Sarcasm intended only on the very last word of that sentence.) (Message edited by hex on September 11, 2009) |

Noted that you blame America first. You are not alone in showing disrespect. The lead story on ABC was 9/11. The lead story on CBS was 9/11. The lead story on NBC was Joe Wilson. |

I was in DC that day working on USAToday's/Gannett's broadcast system. We left the city and got back to the Tyson Corner building just in time to see what happened. Truly a sad day! |

I'm now working with High school students, I wore my American Flag shirt to work today and was amazed how many students knew why and showed the respect for what it stands for. Never forget. |

A while ago I was on Ski Patrol at a local hill with a couple of ATF guys (who were Secret Service at the time), they were both in at Gander Mtn following up on an employee theft of guns, we were yapping about this and that when both of their cell phones rang at the same time......."John, NY City is under attack" I was pirating Direct TV back then and had about a zillion stations, alot from NY, it was a day/night/morning of TV gawking. |

A friend of mine who lives in Manhattan, happened to be staying with us out here in Carlsbad. We watched in horror as the WTC burned and fell. What really scared us was that Scott's family was in NYC and his wife is a nurse. We couldn't get in touch with her for hours and we were concerned that she was performing triage in harms way. We found out much later that the family was OK and her services were not needed in the war zone because most people had perished. It was a long day especially for Scott. 9/11 is very personal day for me even though I live on the Left Coast. The best way to remember 9/11 is that we are still at war and our enemies need to be brought to justice. Save 9/12 and beyond for the Obama service thing. |

By this time 8 years ago, I already had the Pack your Shiat and report order. Standing in formation by noon. Gone by the fifteenth. Funny, for all the things I did, I never met one CIA guy. (ps its NSA that has the national charter for domestic communication; go read intelligence oversight jurisdictions; its open source) The to two that I knew that day, your loss is still felt. To the 14 from my company that arent coming back, you will never be forgotten. To kicking ass in places with out names, in far flung corners of the world; I would do it ALL again. |

it was my senior year and I was in American history class, and it was of all things patriot day. a good portion of the school was dressed up in red white and blue. classes shut down, we all just watched the news, it was playing in the hallways as we went form class to class but did no school work, some sat in the halls and talked or cried or prayed. those of us with cars went home early, but I remember the city streets were empty, businesses where closing or dropping to minimal staff, nobody was on the sidewalks or driving. everyone just stopped where they were as if in a trace, it was all like a bad dream that we couldn't shake, slowly the reality sunk in and the following day people were rallying together. never before have I witnessed something that affected so many people the same way. and I hope I never do again. I also remember how scarred my family and friends were because I was already enlisted in the Air Force, many wanted me to back out... after that day there was no way I would back out. I'm holding our elected officials accountable for his capture. |

I have no words to properly express how I feel, all I have is my resolve to never forget the tragic events that unfolded on this day, 8 years ago. To my friends & countrymen that were lost that day, you will always remain in my heart & prayers. To my friends still in the fight, you have my unwavering support. |

Respect and remembrance for those we lost. The same, plus +1000 for the rescue workers we lost looking for survivors in the aftermath. A shiny bullet FOR ALL who fomented (and the many who still do) such violence against their fellow man. Politicians AND extremists. (It's getting hard to tell a difference between the two.) Let us all find peace, and turn away from the violence. |

I was sitting in a car repair shop waiting for my muffler to be reattached and remember glancing at the TV between reading a magazine thinking I was watching a movie. Then the manager and workers came in to the lobby and turned the sound on. Still is a hard to fathom site that will stick with me forever. My heart and prayers go out to all those families and friends that lost loved ones. The reason there will never be another Dave: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xut56q77GK0 Never forget |

I think this is the first year since it happened that our school didn't do anything official to mark the day. I thought that kind of sucked. On the other side of it, all of my student's hands went up when I asked them if they knew why 9-11 was significant. That made me proud. To me, 9-11 is a day to stop and think of what it means to be an American. It was horrible, but it was also a defining moment in the way that Pearl Harbor was. It was a reminder that even though we are a country with deep political divides, when outsiders threaten us, we stand together. |

i was driving to work thinking it was a radio stunt and change the station and it was on every station. 2 min later i pulled into the parking lot at work, just off of one of Andrew's AFB flight lines and it sounded like the sky was on fire. I watch as aircraft after aircraft was put into the air. |

There are a couple of huge differences between Pearl Harbor and 9/11...fewer people were lost in the Pearl Harbor attack...and afterward we all banded together and CRUSHED those responsible in a complete uncompromising focus. Many of those responsible for 9/11 are still lurking in the shadows...knives drawn....stained with the blood of the innocent. Justice for Bin Laden belongs at the bottom of a pig slop trough......as FEED!!! (Message edited by fast1075 on September 11, 2009) |

"To hell with al qaeda, and to hell with the blame-America-first punitive progressives who parrot the lies and propaganda of al qaeda." Nice patriotism there, cuz only conservatives are patriotic right? My bad, forgot republicans were the only ones killed on 9-11. Pretty disrespectful to my DEMOCRATIC friend who was killed working in the pentagon. Nice. (Message edited by b00stzx3 on September 11, 2009) You misread the meaning of my statement. I specifically mean only those who "blame-America-first ... who parrot the lies and propaganda of al qaeda" not "progressives" in general. I've since edited to avoid that confusion. America (all of us...) needs to stop covertly meddling in foreign affairs. Al qaeda agrees with you. The taliban agrees with you. Islamic Jihad agrees with you. Hamas agrees with you. Hezbolah agrees with you. Kim Jung Il agrees with you. Fidel Castro agrees with you. All the other communist tyrants and despots the world over agree with you. The maniacal islamist leaders of Iran agree with you. All those seeking the destruction of Israel agree with you. All those idiotic/unwitting enemies of America who parrot the lies and propaganda of al qaeda agree with you. Why not? You are one of them. The freedom loving people of Afghanistan feel differently. The liberated freedom loving people of Iraq feel differently. The targets of genocide in Kosovo feel differently. The liberated people of Kuwait feel differently. The liberated people of Panama feel differently. The liberated people of Poland feel differently. The liberated people of Georgia feel differently. The liberated people of the Czech Republic feel differently. The liberated people of the former East Germany feel differently. The liberated people of the former Czechoslovakia feel differently. The liberated freedom loving people of all the other former Soviet/eastern block nations feel differently. The oppressed peoples of apartheid feel differently. The freedom loving people of Central America feel differently. The millions slaughtered by communist N. Vietnam and the Cambodian kmer rouge wish we had stayed the course and not abandoned our "meddling" in their affairs. The people of S. Korea feel differently. The freedom loving people of WW-II era France feel differently. The freedom loving people of WW-II era Great Britain feel differently. The freedom loving people of all of WW-II era Europe feel differently. (Message edited by blake on September 11, 2009) |
