She knows where she is headed, and I can't help but think that she is looking forward to getting there.
That is the most comforting thought for you to have. Death is not such an issue when you know it's just a change. I'm sure it will be exciting and amazing. Hopefully the pain and hard stuff is soon to be over for her, it's just the rest of you guys we need to worry about now. Even knowing it's a great thing for her, it's hard to let them go.
That really has been quick, less than 3 weeks from realizing trouble to the conditions she's in now. It must be some really bad stuff.
Hang in there man, I'll keep you folks on my list. |

Russ, my heart goes out to you and your family. Having been through the same sorrow, I know how you must feel. This years 3 day walk will be especially poignant. Take care of yourself and your family. |

Thanks for all of the prayers and well wishes.
Mom passed yesterday... On her birthday. She was 67 years old.
We all were with her all day long. Her best friend came in and spent some time with her, as well as a small group from her church. In Tyson family style, we all sang Happy Birthday to her... out of tune of course.
After everyone left, we were getting ready to head back to the house to let Dad spend the night with her.
On the way out, I told her not to worry about us any longer, and to go back home, and that we can take care of things from our end. My sister did the same.
My Dad was with her, alone. He said that one minute she was there, then she just slipped away peacefully. Mom went out in true "Mom" fasion... On her terms.
She didn't want the kids there to witness it, and so she waited until we were gone.
If someone asked me how I would want the end to play out, I couldn't think of any better way.
Mom is at peace now, and so is my heart.
Thanks again to all of you... Your words helped along the way.
My sister has been walking in the 3-Day breast cancer walk for the last several years, and is doing this one as well in October.
I also plan on taking part by volunteering in the Crew position on the Buell. |

really sorry to hear this and it was also the kindness of everyone who sent prayers,letters or well wishes from here that made everything that much more barable last month when my sister passed away also from cancer at 49. but most importantly is what her boyfriend said, that when she passed that you could see on her face that she was finally at peace and i hope that your mother was able to find that peace too. my sincere condolences to you and your family russ. god speed. |

Russ-
My wifes grandmother passed 4 months ago much the same way. Once everyone was there and had said goodbye and left my wifes mother said "you no longer need to suffer we all love you and are here to say good bye. Its ok to let go be at peace" Within 5 minutes the pain was over from her fight with cancer. Strange how it works out like that sometimes.
Your post is saddening but at the same time inspiring. From your posts it seems like mom stayed optimistic throughout her ordeal and that is inspiring. Cancer has hit too close to home too many times for me that I know staying optimistic about it can add valuable time for everyone.
