the Stinger missiles stopped them from being able to use the Hind and Havoc indescriminantly as a straffing tactic, and the Frogfoot didnt fair much better, they were kept at higher altitudes that limited their capability to rout out the canyons. Leaving the Mujahideen access to the hill tops and canyons to reap havoc on Soviet troop columns. Take out the Stinger, and it is an entirely different conflict. And yes they are still pissed, and yes they have been there since we have. Dont fool youself, this just the first time the news wants to admit it. |
