Good luck in Afghan Firebolt. I spent two years there running up and down those god forsaken ridge lines. If you are in BAF consider yourself lucky at least. You'll have modern niceties that many others will not have. It still sucks, but hey, you can knock out a TSP in a hurry with deployment cash...or buy a NEW Buell with the overseas payment program.

Not sure of you current position, rank or branch but my advice to any first timers...

Never underestimate the terrain you are in, and don't ever take anything for granted. Stay safe and God Bless!

Firebolt, was checking your profile. What did you do to your wind screen? Looks nice IMO and am thinking of doing the same to mine.

Steven, you're damn straight there are, and I'm one of them.

And I'm certainly not alone in this country in this regard.

I've got many heart-warming stories from my son's recent six-year gig in the US Army about perfect strangers thanking him for his service, in many different ways, including picking up his meal tab one time when he was on leave.

Good on you for your service - all of US thank you.

There are LOTS and LOTS of us on Badweb and all over America.

There are many of us, Jerry and myself included, who lived through Viet Nam and I've vowed to never miss the chance to thank a United States Serviceman for their service and sacrifices.

You guys are amazing.

This hangs in my bar!

It is the soldier, not the reporter,
who has given us freedom of the press.

It is the soldier, not the poet,
who has given us freedom of speech.

It is the soldier, not the campus organizer,
who has given us the freedom to demonstrate.

It is the soldier, not the lawyer,
who has given us the right to a fair trial.

It is the soldier,
who salutes the flag,
who serves under the flag,
and whose coffin is draped by the flag,
who allows the protester to burn the flag.

Stay safe, Firebolt, and thank you for stepping up to protect freedom. Now if we could only get the majority of the people in this country to understand, we'd be in a better place, but at least know there is a big minority who do believe and appreciate.

"It is the soldier, "
...
"who allows the protester to burn the flag"

100% Correct! Some might be too short sighted to see it, but you can be proud any time someone protests ANYTHING in the USA. Like they say, Freedom isn't FREE and we owe those that have served a huge debt.

Thank you and be safe.

When chance avails at a restaurant, I anonymously pay the tab for enlisted servicemen and ministers, those on the front lines in certain areas of this American life, as a token of my appreciation. It's a simple pay it forward and I sincerely thank you chaps for your service. I encourage others who have been blessed by our country's opportunities to do what they can in this regard.

Hey fellas, keep your heads down! I am a bit surprised we have not had a change in mission and sent to Afgan yet. You'll find so much support from here you will be overwhelmed. My infantry company is changing to a motorcycle club haha.

Case of 40 DVD's left yesterday. Don't get caught up watching them and forget why you're over there.

We're thinking of all you guys everyday.

P.S. - It'd be cool for one of the custodians to create a common thread with updated addressed for all of our service guys. I sent Buell posters to Iraq and need to get some to Afghanistan.

I just want to say THANK YOU again for all the support. Also if anyone knows some one who is deployed think about their spouse. It is usually harded form them because they still have to pay bills and act as both roles to the kids. So make sure you all thank the military spouse's also. Thanks again

Steven and Donald:

You guys both have "DEPLOYED BUELLER SURVIVAL KITS" on the way from Erik and I and our wives.

Here's how this goes. . . .

We had a couple damaged books that were perfect for combat deployment . . . . I've written a bunch of notes for you on some of the pages . . . some personal stuff and so forth.

You can't hurt this book. Write in it every time you read something, put your notes, your diary, your questions, anything you want in it. . . .

I've also tossed in a folded suitable for carrying into combat in a pocket Buell posters. Again . . . don't worry about screwing them up . . . these are combat deployment versions.

When you get home. . . drop me a note and I'll send you a brand spankin' new book signed by Erik, Dave and I and a new autographed poster and we'll display your "COMBAT COPY" in the lobby at Buell for visitors to see.

It's important that you and every American Serviceman with you know that while many folks waffle that we are 100% behind you. Erik and I were both dyed in the wool patriots in love with this country before either of us ever started or owned a business.

With all the character and history the United States of America is the most amazing country in the world. Never in history have so many had so much opportunity and bathed in such freedom.

I was standing here the day our country was attacked by those you have sworn to defend our nation against. I can tell you what it was like to see innocent young people leaping, hand in hand, to their death from the 94th floor.

Never forget you are defending not only the greatest nation on earth but one of the most just and wonderful in history. Please do everything you do knowing each and every minute that we, before we are Buell fanatics, as AMERICAN citizens are behind you 100% in everything you are doing.

Semper Fi,
Court

Huge thank you to you, Mrs. Canfield, and Mr. and Mrs. Buell.

Donald, you are not lying! I have a copy on tour over here with Chris. The book starts alot of good conversations that allows you to think outside the suck for a little bit and get the gears rolling. Have alot of people converting, the main problem is having them decide which bike more suites thier fancy, 1125R or the CR...
