I had the opportunity to hang out with my best friend and brother, Brian Cessna, aka Stingaroo here on Badweb, over Christmas break and to have an awesome going away party for him prior to his deployment to Iraq. Brian is a SSG forward observer/fire support specialist and Stryker commander in the PA National Guard, 28th Div, and will be deploying to Iraq along with Chris Hawn and Mike Carper, also here on Badweb, in a few weeks. Many of you may have met him at Buell Homecoming this summer; he had the big Buell banner he was having people sign to hang on his Stryker, the Street Dog, when he deploys to Iraq. Brian filmed this quick bit for the National Guard while stationed in Ft. Polk Louisiana this fall, preparing for their deployment. Check it out!!! http://www.1-800-go-guard.com/careers/mos/descript ion.php?mos_code=13F Once These guys are in country, I'll be working on some care packages for all of our troops over there, and these Badwebbers in particular. Please keep all of those serving and protecting our country in your thoughts and prayers; can't wait for them to get back so we can ride again!!! |

Mike, the story behind Brian and that picture is really cool. Maybe Brian can pop in and tell it. It's MUCH better in person. Brain, it was really fun meeting you at homecoming. If even half of our troups have your commitment and honor we cannot do anything but succeed. Folks, this dude has some of the greatest stories and amayzing history. I dare anyone to try and stump him on damn near anything military, especially hardware. Be safe Brian, Chris and Mike. Brad |

Indeed Brian could probably tell the story in person, but he's up at Ft. Indiantown Gap, PA right now getting ready to head to Kuwait on the 17th of Jan for his deployment... To make a very long story somewhat short, Brian and I have been brothers for many years, we starting hanging out in middle school, were in boyscouts together, worked on the same farm for a number of years, ridden bikes quite a bit, and lived a bunch of great stories, drank a bunch of beers and just have had a blast. That picture was taken at the PA military museum right outside of State College, PA, probably 8 or 9 years ago. We were there for a Memorial Day living history event the unit did every year. We portray the L Co, 109th Inf, 28th Div of the PA national guard. We had a boy scout event that was a WWII living history thing we helped out with. We met some of the reenactors and got interested in the whole thing. This was probably sophomore year of high school. We both got into more and more events, met a ton of really cool reenactors, WWII vets and others. One of the highlights, I am sure, was right after Band of Brothers was released; we had a Battle of the Bulge reenactment at Ft. Indiantown Gap, and Dick Winters, Bill Guarnere, Steve Ambrose and a ton of the other actors and vets were at the event to promote the movie- and we got to hang out with them all. It's a really cool hobby; WWII is a fascinating time in history, the vets are amazing and you get to be with some really cool hardware in the process- tanks, machine guns, half tracks, jeeps trucks etc. With this move back to the east coast, hopefully I can get to some more events. And- if you ever have the chance to sit down and have a few with Brian and I, we can tell stories forever. |

Alex- When you get settled in I'll stop by and we can talk about it. My father-in-law was an air force mechanic in Austrailia during WWII. He didn't talk at all abut it for the longest time. He said that the guys that talked the most were usually the ones that weren't in the bad action. A couple of years ago one of my kids had to do a report for school on the war and we finally got him to talk about it. He was in some of the invasions of the Phillipines and other islands. Now I know why he doesn't want to think much of what he went through. |
