I finally scored an engine crane from a pal so I could get that empty OE shock out and replace it with a new one. I ordered all the new bits (new mount, clamps and all) and it went smoothly until I lowered the bike off the crane and it kept going. So low that the sidestand doesn't even hold it up. I'm busy as hell trying to figure out what happened and all I know so far is the belt is super tight. I mean NO deflection at all. Is there another adjustment not listed in the recall lit?

I weigh about 150 and with me on the bike, the distance from eye to eye is 16.25". When I get off, it goes down to a whopping 16.5".

Personally, I liked it better when it was tall but did the pogo.

Any ideas?

Sounds like you got the long shock with the short shock front mount.

The left one is for the long(16.5") shock and the right one is for the short(14.5") version

The new shock is 16.5" and the shorter, set back mount came with it. Put the old, straight mount back on and go or what?

Yes, use the older, straight mount for the long shock.

Maybe tell the guy you bought it from, too.

When you do get the bike back together or even now, put that belt as loose as you want. Right now, since everything is in a straight line(axle, pivot, trans pulley) you are at the tightest spot. In this position you should still have an inch of deflection. running it even more loose won't cause it to skip either...And yep you need the straight one

All done. Gooder than new.

Thanks,
