Woody, I don't mean to bust on you, but have you ever actually HAD sex?? lol np motorman , at 51 i'm more than secure enough in myself to let that comment bother me . my bueatiful daughter is my proof . what's yours ? yea last nite i was definately aging myself . after highschool i worked in a shop that specialized in italian cars . my boss was on an alfa race team and our high priced clientel allowed me to work on everything from their ferrari's and lamborghini's to their wive's mercedes . would have probably been early 80's when a good customer had his new maserati biturbo delivered to our shop to have it gone over(he trusted us more than the maserati dealership) and i got in it to back it off the ramp truck and sunk into that seat ..... yea funny how you look back on different things and there's certain things that make them memorable . it was a nice car , but nothing special compared to some others ...... i just remember how sweet that seat was . |

it was a nice car , but nothing special compared to some others ...... i just remember how sweet that seat was If your lasting impression of an early Biturbo is nothing special but you just remember how sweet the seat was, so how come you remember the Biturbo was nothing special? Ah Woody, you're an expert on nothing special, and you own a Blast too Rocket |

Comparing a swb 250 from one era to a production saloon Maserati from another era is hardly basis for your 'nothing special' comment. Somehow in every thread you join me in, you're always attempting to provoke. Why can't you just talk about cars without the underlying stupid comments? Do you imagine for a moment I didn't see the sarcasm in the ohhhhhh sorry it's "Rocket's" biturbo comment? I mean, is there really any need? I started this thread to share a very special experience. Not debate a Ghibli Cup being nothing special. See how it works? Rocket |

Kinda reminds me of the import cars the younger crowds are customizing. Neat looking I guess but for the money I would want the bling bling factor of Ferrari, Lambo or Lotus. |

I also used to get to drive some pretty powerful machinery, like this one for example, 12 litre, fuel injected, Rolls-Royce engine with a crash-box, glass fibre bodywork, hub reduction axle, it even had a sprung seat. I bet you can't guess how many gears it's got though.
Who me? take the piss? never! |

Neat looking I guess but for the money I would want the bling bling factor of Ferrari, Lambo or Lotus. Putting the 400 auto aside, you might be lucky in finding a 308GT4 for a little bit more money, but I think I'm the only fella in the world that counts the poor mans Ferrari as his favourite older model. Anyway, you'd need to spend at least 80 plus grand to get in a Ferrari of similar performance to this particular Cup. Lambo's, well they only got good recently and that's gonna cost you 100k too. The Miura is gorgeous but handled like a pig they say. Countach is over the top and at best an occasional driver. What else is there until the Gallardo? Lotus? I like the first generation Esprit turbo, and the Europa Special was my all time fave until I got into TVR's, but Lotus are not really 170 mph supercars. That said, I've owned a couple of Lotuses. Had a couple of Ferrari's pass through my hands. Never owned a Lambo though. I guess that means you've got good taste too, in which case I really wish one day you too could get into a Ghibli Cup. You'd have your eyes opened a little bit I'd hope. Grumps, 16 would be my stab, and I bet it goes well without the long bit on the back. Rocket |

Not likely to happen since I am about as broke as a convict . I actually really like the WAY over the top styling of the Countach. Not practical in the least but if one has the money to buy it then I would suspect they could afford something a bit more mundane for when it comes time to go to the local Piggly Wiggly. Now when it comes to the classics I will take a big ole' helping of the 1969 Jaguar XKE any day of the week. Once again not really practical but sexy nonetheless. |

The "E" type is/was the nicest looking Jag BL built, IMO. Lucky Rocket. BUT, please be careful generalizing, I do not now, nor have I ever owned ANY vehicle with an automatic transmission. I guess that means I don't know how to drive an automatic!! Oz "Nobody gets in to see the Wizard. Not nobody, not no how." |

When I was a boy, I used to walk down the blvd. past all the car dealers in the evening. A black XKE coupe in the showroom window was the car of my dreams. I still think it is the best looking car that I have ever seen. |

The "E" type is/was the nicest looking Jag BL built, IMO. IMO, it's one of the most beautiful cars ever. Still stunning after all these years. I can't imagine the impact it must have had when first released. |

"69 charger 440/4spd(my moms till I got it impounded)" My mom had a 1968 Charger! It was the spitting image of the Charger in 'Bullitt'. We actually went to see the movie in that car. I was way too young to ever drive it, but man did I ever love that Charger. I saw a guy a couple days ago driving around in a restored '69 Charger. I was staring so hard, the guy waved at me and lit 'em up. |

One of the only true original designs in automobiles. So distinctive it is easily identified by the outline of it's profile. I classify the 911 in this group as well. Although I can't decide which is more beautiful, the engine or the body. |

Yes, reverse is one of 7. I was going to say 6 speed, but I knew someone would assume I meant reverse included in the six and I was trying to make it look good. Actually, I got the torque wrong. 330 ft/lbs and 360bhp is about right on the dyno print. Weighs about 1300kg. I can't imagine the impact it must have had when first released. Oh well, I can. In 1961 Jaguar brought the world the E Type. In 1961 my mum and dad brought the world me! 'Twas a great year Rocket |

My old fencing master (who, by tradition, wears all black during the fencing lessons/practice) drove a black XKE. One of my favorite car designs of all time too. I got to sit in it once... |

I remember an English teacher at the grammar school I went to, when the other teachers were wheezing to shool in old clapped out morris minors & austin 1100s, this guy would swish through gates in a mint 64 Ford Galaxie convertible, he used to take the cricket team to matches in it too. |

Then it's got to be four. Four as in..............breaking rocks in the hot sun, I fought the law and the law won...... My senior school maths teacher, Doc Martin, use to come to school in a drophead V12 Series III E Type. Then there was our 26 year old geography teacher, Miss Potter. She use to come to school on a DOHC Z900. Us boys just would come! Rocket |

I'll give it you Rocket, 4spd constant mesh, with a range change but NO splitter, plus rev & crawler. Ah those were the days, a real mans gearchange none of this namby-pamby self selecting electronic crap. Still, I wouldn't go back to the back-breaking ride & the deafening noise, I'll stick with a nice & comfy, quiet, but boring Volvo I think. |
