My balls just aren't big enough, and I have no shame in admitting it. I could not imagine what overcoming something like that must feel like. |

I taught snowboarding for a bunch of years. And have been on some pretty crazy stuff. but that is nucking futs. I wish i had the stones for something like that (Actually now a days I wish I had the time to go snowboard again). |

well I've never been snow boarding but I have been wake boarding being that I'm from the south, and all I could think of was that would be really easy to catch an edge in the snow on something that verticle and be tumbling head over feet the rest of the way down! That's crazy! I would never do that! |

That is by far some of the craziest shit I've seen on snow. When I was a few years younger (but not so long ago), I did some crazy downhill in Colorado. The best was a place called Silverton Mountain. Here's a few pictures of the runs I've done there...
The place is 100% backcountry serviced by 1 chairlift. The rest of the mountain is accessed by hiking wiht your full gear. Man...I miss that shit!!! |

Well, that's pretty extreme stuff. And lemme tell ya, looking down at a 60 degree slope is like looking down the side of a building. I've been skiing since the 60s and snowboarding since the mid 80s; I've skied 55 degree slopes, which and they're steep enough! Johntman is right, catch an edge on a slope like that and they'll be picking you up at the bottom--once you start tumbling, there's no way to stop. Of course, Terje Haakinson (I think that's who was the rider in the film) is considered one of the best snowboarders alive today. The premier rider of my generation, though--Craig Kelly--died just a few years ago in an avalanche (actually not that far north of me--he was living in my town at the time...). |

I love watching terje ride, always smooth and can pull off some major stuff anywhere on the mountain. My favorite rider now is Travis Rice, absolutely crazy talent. |

I love watching that kind of stuff. I'm addicted to Warren Miller movies. Makes me wonder why I'm doing the Monday to Friday 8AM to 7PM thing? |

I watched the "Man That Skied Down Mt.Everest in 2.5 Min." yesterday. The actual ski run was not as spectacular as this one. |
