I wanted nothing more than to see Mark Martin win the Daytona 500. I have nothing against Kevin Harvick and have been a fan of his since taking over Earnhardt's ride, but Mark Martin has been my driver since '92 when he was the Valvoline #6 Ford. I'm just venting my frustration in seeing Martin come so close! |

I wouldn't say robbed. It was definately an exciting race. I thought he was gonna take it back in those closing seconds, but to no avail. |

After the 20 car got wrecked, I had no one to cheer for. So in the end, yea I was cheering for the old guy too. |

Yea, I was really hoping to see him pull it off too. It was one heck of a finish, that's for sure. |

Yeah, there was some talk about should the officials thrown the caution flag at the moment the wreck on the last lap started. If they had thrown it Martin would have won being that he was ahead of Harvick at the time. But since the wreck happened on the last lap and they wouldn't have circled the track again they decided to let them race to the finish. Like Bo_sox, I have been a Harvick fan at the moment he took over for Dale but seeing Martin going the the win I noticed myself cheering for Martin for the first over Harvick! BTW, What was up With Blaney. He was forced onto pit road at race speed, blows through the pits and then enters the track on the other side only to take out Schrader! Whata bone head move! |

Blaney had a flat tire and couldn't steer the car. |

Yeah, I think if Blaney would have hit the brakes in pit road, he would have made one hell of a mess. And how about the 07 car crossing the start/finish on his ROOF! That was awesome. Can you imagine the conversations he was having after that? I am just glad he got back on the rubber side and got out safely. |

Crusty, Blaney didn't know that! He still chose to blast down pit road and try to enter the track without slowing. |

My guess is that if Mark did win it there would have been a second pit emptying salute to a grand old driver! If he weren't "Mark Martin" he would have pushed Harvick to the wall and won, but Mark does not now, nor has he ever driven that way. |

The footage of the last lap will always be shown with the 1976 and 1979 finishes. That was definitely one of the top three most exciting last laps in Daytona history. Only a fight in the infield would have made it better. |

Yep, somebody stole his Viagra! Who cares? NASCAR is like a kiddie car ride compared to any kind of motorcycle racing. Left, turn left, left... (Message edited by jimidan on February 20, 2007) |

The problem I have is the announcers do not explain the rules properly. They always say if there is an accident/caution during the green-white-checkered laps, the race is over, the field is frozen. This is true in cases where the white flag has not been thrown yet. But on the last lap, if the run to the finish line is clear, they may not wave the caution, allowing the race for the win to be decided on the track. After Junior was taken out in one of the "big ones" I was hoping Martin could hang on for the victory. On to California we go and hopefully the racing there isn't as bad as it's been in the past. Four weeks till I leave for Bristol and the COT. It better not snow again this year. |

Buellfighter; do you really think that the driver of a car going somewhere near 150 MPH can't feel when a tire has gone flat? If he had done anything other than what he did, can you imagine the result? |

Happens all the time Crusty. Drivers not knowing they have a flat till they enter the turn. Just like Blaney trying to enter the track at race speed without using his brain. I'm done. |

Wait, I'm not done!! All Headline News: "Dave Blaney who was parked by Nascar on lap 185 for excessive speed and rough driving, came away 34th on the day"! Sun Herald: Perhaps the most unusual incident came on lap 185 when Blaney was forced down into pit row at full speed after a couple of cars started sliding. He slowed to 155 m.p.h. or so before catapulting back out onto the track near turn 1 and clipping Kenny Schrader. Blaney was flagged five laps and didn't get out onto the track!" Hmmmmmmmmmmmm. Flat my A$$ |

I have been a MM fan for those twenty years. I loved the finish, but hated the way it turned out for my man. NASCAR did right to let them race. They threw the Yellow just after the two crossed the line. |

So, Earnhardt died how many years ago? No one wants to let it go............When will we get to see a race without some tribute to the "man". Please folks he and Elvis are dead let them rest in peace. |

Why don't they just race the last 10 laps and forget the rest? All the other laps are pretty pointless if the rules have the cars in procession towards the final few laps. Same use to be in Indycar. Mansell would have won the 500 at his first attempt if it were not for a stupid caution flag in the last few laps. Rocket |

I saw that, got spun out before the start finish line while leading the race on a PACE LAP!! That is quite ridiculous if you ask me. Something should have been done about that by the officials of the race. |
