Hard to believe that a blonde Danish girl from Akron, Ohio would settle down in the heart of Hickland with a Hoosierbilly like me but it's true. We defied the odds in a lot of ways. I traveled to Akron for Christmas in 1976 and stole her from her family just after her 18th birthday. We packed everything she owned into her rusted out '68 Cutlass and my rusted out '69 Torino and drove 250 miles to our new life. She stayed with friends for a coupla months while we enrolled her in the local high school and looked for a place to live. I sold a 1972 MSR100(my first brand new Harley) the first week of February 1977 and that was just enough to pay for the preacher and use of the church. Against a LOT of peoples' wishes we married thirty years ago today in the middle of our senior year. I still remember how scared we were and the grin on the face of my Dad. We will never forget his support. She wasn't pregnant, that would come two years later. We just wanted to get out of our childhood homes and start our life together. We graduated husband and wife and survived all the rough places a marriage can go. We ate the humility of mistakes and savored the victories of many good choices together. We've only had two addresses(the current one for over 28 years), one phone number and two great kids. It ain't been easy but I know I'm the luckiest biker on this board! Thank you dearest Kim. JB2 This song along with "Sister Golden Hair" by America were/are our songs. WOND'RING ALOUD Wond'ring aloud - how we feel today. Last night sipped the sunset - my hand in her hair. We are our own saviors as we start both our hearts beating life into each other. Wond'ring aloud - will the years treat us well. As she floats in the kitchen, I'm tasting the smell of toast as the butter runs. Then she comes, spilling crumbs on the bed and I shake my head. And it's only the giving that makes you what you are.
