so, i've 4 bikes (and 1 jeep) up for auction right now on eBay. its pretty interesting to track the # of watchers and # of viewers to my auctions. the most interesting thing, perhaps, is that my 12 year old ducati is getting way more "serious" attention in the form of auction watchers than my 2003 buell, 2004 buell, or 2006 harley....bids are slowly starting to creep up. first number is watchers, second number is viewers 34, 1010 - 2004 lightning 34, 708 - 2006 street bob 21, 854 - 2003 firebolt racebike 67, 1119 - 1995 supersport what do you guys make of the stats? auction's been up for 3 days. http://motors.search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZdorafang D |

There ya go...I'm watching the Harley and the Buells. I looked at the racing Buell the other day, but I don't like the number 8. |

8's the luckiest number is asian culture. sounds like the word for get lucky, get rich, etc. and i chose it for my race number because i figured i could use all the help i could get! not *really* shilling for more watchers, though it sure cant hurt just making a round-about comment about buell and harley's market power. But wait! Will you still be "Buellgirlie"? Who could possibly fill that role? Who will achieve and document the impossible lean angle? This is a sad day. |

How do you just g'head and sell all your toys? That would be a tough decision for me. Especially the Jeep. I still miss my Jeep. |

The Buell watcher's are obsessive compulsive. They signed up to watch the auction but cannot help from going back and viewing a few times a day. They'll wait till the last 5 mins of the auction and strike like commandos. DAve |

I put a "watch this item" on your Sherpa baby backpack so it won't feel lonely! Good luck. |

blake - i'll still be buellgirlie - i'm keeping the "girlie" plates as far as the lean angle...well, it *is* the internet, and things live forever now Kdan - i'm still keeping my daily driver jeep (for now) and my 95th anniversary sportster (cant get good pics to sell it, its at my parents), so even though i am selling 5 vehicles, i will actually have 2 left. it was *NOT* an easy decision, but something that just makes financial sense. it took me a long time to come to terms with selling off my fleet. its been a large part of me for so long, that it feels like selling off my identity. when you start thinking about the costs to store (actual storage fees for secure, heated, dry, attended space, depreciation of value, and then maintenance costs to bring each one back to roadworthy (tires, battery, hoses, etc.) - then it starts sounding kinda icky. if i sell them off now, i do take a loss, but a smaller one. there's no way i can buy back what i'm selling with what i'm going to get. but, it decreases my footprint and increases my liquidity. and, i can buy whatever new toy i want when i come back the practical side of me prefers to take a medium loss now over a larger loss later. the rest of me mourns the sale of my fleet, but is excited about the idea of new toys! josh - sent you a PM. reserve is at 3500. american - i know, i love the look and handling of that bike. thats the one i am taking the biggest hit on financially dave - i think posting it here has upped the folks watching the lightning. here's to hoping for many commando like bids ! dbird - gee thanks. it was a silent auction item that i never gave to any of my friends who've been having babies left and right. D, Very interesting observation I must say, although the results might be tainted due to outside influences, (*ehim* Badweb), but still rather interesting. Good luck too you, and safe travels always! Looking forward to some pics and tales of your adventures. Brian |

today's stats. the action's heating up! gotta love the ebay frenzy. none are at reserve yet, but i'm getting hopeful that the viewers and watchers will start their bidding soon!
i think the "badweb" effect has normalized and its back to market power of each vehicle. pretty amazing to me that the 12 year old duc is still leading the numbers. i have 7 bids on the bobber, 7 bids on the duc, 1 bid of the racebike, 4 bids on the street buell, and 1 bid on the jeep so far. swords - ya, my insurance wasnt pretty, nor was parking, registration, maintenance - but motorsports is my gig and i dont have anyone to answer to, so i spend my money on what i like old and sting - thank you for the good wishes, and yes, i'll continue to post periodically here with my adventures. woooohooooooo - the duc just hit reserve price and will sell. the harley just hit 10K and is gettin' really close to reserve..the buells and jeep are another story - a good number of watchers and viewers but the bids dont seem to be moving. here's the latest stats. ebay is pretty darn cool in that it can drive 10,457 views to my 5 vehicles for sale in less than a week. wow. D
p.s. there's also a tentative sale of the racebike to a fellow badwebber, so it might get pulled of ebay (Message edited by buellgirlie on February 20, 2007) |
