How do you know there is a Drummer at the front door? His hat says 'Domino's'. |

What's the definition of an optimist? A folk musician with a mortgage. What do you call a accordionist with a beeper? An optimist. What's the difference between a musician and a savings bond? One of them eventually matures and earns money. What do you call a musician who doesn't have a girl friend? Homeless! We know a guy who was so dumb his teacher gave him two sticks and he became a drummer, but lost one and became a conductor. "Why do you close your eyes while playing the piano?" "I can't see the agony of the audience." The doorbell rang and the lady of the house discovered a workman, complete with tool chest, on the front porch. "Madam," he announced, "I'm the piano tuner." The lady exclaimed, "Why, I didn't send for a piano tuner." The man replied, "I know you didn't, but your neighbors did." Musician: "Did you hear my last recital?" Friend: "I hope so." "Do you love music?" "Yes, but never mind, you may continue playing." Why do bagpipers walk when they play? To get away from the noise. What do you call someone who hangs out with a bunch of musicians? A drummer. How do you get a lead guitarist to stop playing? You put sheet music in front of him. What does a guitar player do when he locks his keys in the car? He breaks the window to get the bass player out. "Mother, I want to grow up and be a rock-n-roll musician." "Now son, you have to pick one or the other. You can't do both." |

Definition of perfect pitch. Standing 20 feet from a dumpster, throwing an accordion underhand into the dumpster and have it land squarely on a banjo.... |

Drummers........a local guy I know is a pretty decent drummer, and he answered an ad in the paper. There was this band from about 3 hours north of here looking for someone who was solid and reliable. These guys were pretty good, but when it came to drummers, it was as if they were cursed. So buddy tries out, and bang, he's got the gig. But, the band's curse continues, and buddy doesn't find everything to his liking after a couple of gigs, and packs it in, snivelling that, "I dont think these guys are worth wasting my time on." Well, that band ended up recruiting another guy from around here, and the next thing ya know, old Chad's a millionaire; Nickleback is HUGE! Buddy is doing ok, I guess, at least he's off the anti- depressants now................i am so smart, i am so smart, SMRT, SMRT.......... |

that's some funny stuff! believe it or not there are still some symphony/orchestra types out there that still get offended, lol. rick, evidently you are right about the great intonation of the garrisons, my step-mom claims to never have to tune the garrisons in the shop - i swung by there yesterday and played some of the guitars there - actually i played my old takemine vs. a g30 and the takemine was easier for me to play (probably cause i played it for the last 4-5 years) however, the g30 sounded just as nice but with more sustain, and holy smokes, sustain means alot in an acoustic, my dad let me borrow a cheapy in the mean time (an excel?) and wow, this piece has no sustain whatsoever, i can keep the chops up though! |

Tripp, it's amazing how many people just dont grasp the concept of sustain on an acoustic guitar, but without it, it's pretty much a banjo. I was just down at the shop, picking up the evening's work. I was quite surprised that there was a customer at the store that had a problem with a Garrison; it seems that the electronics were giving him trouble. I plugged it in and it worked fine. I asked if he was sure the cord was ok, he said he was sure it was, but he had it in the case. I really should have taken a picture of it. It was one of those old school curly cords, and I wouldn't be surprised if Hendrix himself abused this thing. So, yeah, it was the cord. Anyway, I'm just strumming some old Bowie tune on this Garrison to make sure everything else is ok before I hand it back to the owner, and some guy who just spent some serious coin on a new J-45 is just astonished at how great the Garrison sounds, and buys one on the spot. I'm tellin' ya, people overlook those things; until they either hear one or play one. I borrow the "loaner" guitar from the shop when I do any studio recording because it's so easy to put into a "space" in the mix. I find the same with PRS and Hamer electrics. Both of those companies were started by guys who knew how to fix guitars, and realized that the mathematicly "correct" placement of the nut, frets, and bridge was not nessessarily the the correct sonic, or more importantly, musical location of those parts. I've got a Tak as well, an EF325, a gorgeous cherry red one in really great condition; because it never gets played. It needs a good home, someone should be in love with this guitar...... Hey, totally dig the flames on your Psyclone, Tripp. Y'know, bringing back the Cyclone would be freakin cool. I love my F'bolt, but there's just something about those tube framers. Maybe the Company could hand over that XR1200 that the Euro market gets to Buell, who could put it on a diet, wrap it in a real tube frame, and kill 2 birds with one stone. What I mean by that, is that the Motor Company is more than aware that North American Harley buyers are, historicly, fairly cold towards performance Harleys. Everyone says that they love the XR1200, but how many will actually buy one? If a snottier, lighter version of the XR1200 were sold by Buell, those interested enough to buy one still would. And a vagueley retro looking Buell, leaning on that XR750 vibe, might pull a few Harley customers over, simply because of the retro edge. I'd love to build a Blast based street tracker based on that concept. [heyyyy, anyone want to swap a Blast for a Tak?] |

doh, got a call from my guitar dealer - garrison called about my order. i had ordered rosewood binding but in order to utilize the full griffiths active bracing, the binding has to be the same glass fibre substance. i should've figured that out before i placed my order, turns out i saved money and kept the full brace by going with the synthetic binding, and with the money i saved i am able to afford the full gloss finish, it should be beautiful. i might have them switch me to the turtle shell pick guard (if they can hold the little bugger down, hehe - sorry lvthmtort). so i had to decide between form and function, i'm not buying it to look at it! |
