I guess about now is usual time as it does rain here occasionally. And when it gets too hot in the interior we just head for the coast,it can be 100 in valley and 60 on the coast. And it is just a quick jaunt through the hills around the Napa Valley out to Hiway 1,darn!! |

Hmm, not much. Just finished installing a customized MRA windscreen (pics later on the XB board), and I plan on rigging up a brake flasher. I might get really crazy and buy a Signalminder, or if Steve gets his SS-with-Uly tail mod documented and it doesn't cost too much, I might tackle that one. ~SM |

You can hardly call it winter in FL, but I'm having headwork done, getting a Zipper's 3-stage oil pump, installing a bronze oil pump drive gear, doing some oil system mods, replacing my wrist pin bushings, updating the transmission to the '00 and up 2nd gear ratio, and having my swingarm lengthened 1" and braced. I have some race parts I need to finish as well. There's a seat for my Race Tech tail I have to re-upholster, and I'm going to re-make a broken lexan bellypan out of fiberglass. I also have a 20K service to do. |

I was given an 82 GS650GL that I am fixing up and going to give to my Dad for Father's day or his B-Day. It needs a carb overhaul, some cosmetics (turn signals, side cover, etc), and some general maintenance. It's too doggone cold to work on it now. I have an old horse barn for a garage, so it is the same temp as the outside, usually below 0. |

Maintence? In Florida you say? Fresh rubber, change the fluids as needed, add parts as needed (either wornout or something new) and ride!! Although, the Harley is due for a motor tear down as it has nearly 100,000 miles on it!! |

My winter project? Not replacing the Buell. Seriously. I'm sure there's some explanation for it. Maybe it's the cold weather working on my subconscious, but every winter I start thinking that my current toys aren't good enough. This winter I've been fighting the urge to replace the XB with a literbike, maybe an '04-'06 R1. |

I can't believe I spent so much money on a bike that basically had nothing wrong with it. I knew I was heading for trouble when I went for the CRG levers. Daves talked me into it. (That was the easiest sale of all time). Then when the bike got selected for the NY Motorcycle Show, I "just had" to finish the job. Yikes! Here is the damage: 1. Made new muffler work stand for bike. 2 New custom Joker Machine handlebar risers 3. painted front sprocket aluminum to match guard 4. Chrome heel protectors 5. Install Ohlins rear shock 6. Upgraded Ohlins spring 7. Powder coat wheels: black centers, polished rims 8. Power coat swing arm graphite to match frame. 9. Hone front and rear rotors 10. Install Lyndall Gold front brake pads 11. Replace Vortex aluminum rear sprocket 12. Replace DID ERV3 chain 13. American Sport Bike carbon fiber rear hugger 14 LSL billet footpegs 15. Crossroads foot brake and shift levers 16. Change oil and filter 17. Buell Polished aluminum 2004 upper belt guard: matte coating. 18. Buell X-1 Timing cover with engraved Pegasus. Think I am going to incinerate my credit card. Know what I mean? |

Turning my 'bolt white from blue, [still need chin spoiler fairings and front fender; I've got a posting in Parts Wanted]. After reading about Firebolt headlight problems, I took mine apart to find the "plating" dissolving; working on a fix for that. Just re-assembled the crank assembly for my XS-650 Street Tracker project after installing pin bushings and re-phasing the firing pattern to 277/443 degrees. Working the geometry out for the monoshock suspension for the same bike. My Telecaster hasn't been touched in weeks, and is giving me the silent treatment...........Rock on, Lions! I've got about as many summers behind me as you, and my kid is bugging the he** out of me to put a Deadbolt meets Stooges band together- - - with HIM! Gotta admit, its tempting......... |

crawled out of the shadows, thought I would toss up my 'gimp style' winter project... That is 1098cc of British sass between the framerails, and 2500cc of Japanese hentai on the engine stand. Just replacing the head gasket on the original motor for now as I put peices together for the 2.5L motor and find a transmission. |

Replacing shifter fork/rod and first gear on the tranny. Have pics but need to be shrunk down to size. This is after replacing cylinder head, primary cover, lower triple tree, fuel pump, front rim. Wish me luck, if anyone has some tips/advice about putting the damn engine together shoot me a pm. (Message edited by ehi on October 01, 2011) (Message edited by ehi on October 01, 2011) |
