Reg, I'm quite sure that you're not speaking to Erik or another direct Buell employee everytime there is a Anon post on these boards. The anon posts are useful, but there is no guarantee that they are a direct line from the factory -- unless they're written as if they are.

Not just everyone can do it Rocket, for instance, you can't.

Yesm, I've heard Buell came out with some new models since '99. (I'm on the internet!) But one Buell seems to be enough, and mine still runs just fine.

Why do you girls cry and whine when I compare two bikes that I own and ride?

I'd like to see Buell come out with a bike I can get excited over. I don't care if its a dirt bike, or a hper bike, as long as its superior in its class. Performance counts.

Yes performance counts - Rocket could probably hold that bike in as straight a line as you have - so saying that is more of the same of above - yawn

Performance as defined by who? you? Not everyone defines performance in terms of raw hp. Everyone but the Buell haters would agree that an XB out handles a Busa. Everyone would also agree that a Busa would hand an XB it's ass on the freeway. Big deal - so what !!.....you ride what you like and I'll ride what I like. Personally, I don't like Harley's all that much, choppers or Busa's with swingarms extended out to the length of a football field. If I wanted to go fast I'd buy an MTT turbine superbike and call it a day.

Why do you girls cry and whine when I compare two bikes that I own and ride?

It didn't sound like much of a comparison - more along the lines of trashing the Buell. There is no more of a comparison between a Buell and a Busa then there is of an apple and an orange. Oranges and apples are both fruit and yes, indeed; a Buell and a Busa are both motorcycles.

Buellshyster, I am even farther back in time than Snail as my ride is an S-2.And he probably has more miles on his S-3 than alot of folks here.
And all of the Busa bashing must be by people unfamiliar with them. I have ridden them and ridden with enough folks that ride them well to know what a capable all round bike it is.Don't for a minute think it cannot corner.
I would own one if I thought I could keep from getting tickets galore---course that begs the question of why I am considering turboing my Sprint.
Snail is not bashing Buells--he still enjoys his. He just wants a bit more in some of the areas that Buell is lacking--more power,a six speed, something a bit more touring friendly than the XB line--remember the S-2 and S-3?,etc.

Try to remember,ALL motorcycles are fun, as they should be. Brand loyalty is great if it doesn't blind you to the good qualities in other bikes. No one bike is the end-all, they all do somethings well, others not so well.
Might be why I have several brands in the stable.

I never said a Busa can't corner. ALL motorcycles can corner even a unicycle. The Busa weighs almost 500 pounds dry. That hardly qualifies as flickable.Compare that to a GSX-R1000 at 400 lbs. I might sound as if I'm coming across as brand loyal but I really like the new Ducati 1098. I dont have any Buell tattoos on my arm. I'm just giving my opinion based on experience and basic physics. I don't recall Bike Magazine giving the Busa top cornering honors. Furthermore, while S2 and S3 Buells are nice bikes they don't compare with the XB in the handling and quality department.

If I had wanted a Busa - I wouldn't be here - lol - keep it - not impressed - I ride every day - unless Snail does then as far as I'm concerned - he's just talking BS as usual - and that can go for a lot of the rest of the lot. You want to impress me - put in over 500 miles a week and then add 300 more on the weekends - until then - yawn.

I think it's obvious that Snail prefers the way his Busa handles because he's a salty dog commercial fisherman, and his Busa handles most like his fishing boat. : )

I have little personal in-saddle experience with the 'Busa. On the spec sheet the size and weight of the Big Suzy eliminates it from any serious, tight, backroad burning.

Last summer, however, Chop and I met up with Snail and a couple of his friends for a bit 'o camping/riding in the Coffe Creek area of California. This is remote country laced with great riding roads of the type that are much better suited to big SuperMotards rather than lumbering 180-mph machines.
Unfortunately, no one told Snail that. I was flat amazed at the agility and performance of the 'Busa in the hands of Snail.

I'd be very careful about betting the farm against a Hayabusa with a capable rider in the saddle.

There is a prevailing myth about big, heavy motorcycles that is propagated by those who have not spent time on a big, heavy motorcycle. To wit, "They handle like drunken pigs on an iced marble floor."

Wrong.

If you know how to dance with a BHM you'll be surprised at what they can do. The big drawback, as 'shyter mentions, is physics. When you're dancin' a fast rhumba with these fat ladies... and they get away from you; they're gone, big time.

Snail does what he does with the 'Busa because, 1) he's fearless, 2) he's strong (v. import with the BHMs) and, 3) he's competent. All things being equal, the 'Busa will lose out to the lighter, more finely honed sportbikes... just don't make the mistake of thinking that because you're on one of thes sportbikes that you'll automatically relegate the 'Busa to the position of road sweep.

BHM in this case means Road King, Light Weight Motorcycle in this case means XB9S.
Pure and simple, I got smoked riding my LWM up HWY60 from Toosy's to T.W.O.
Does that mean a Road King compares with an XB9S?
No it doesn't, it means I don't have a chance when Scott Zampach is riding the BHM.
Have ya ever seen a Road King backing it in a curve? It's a sight, let me tell you!

>>>>I'd be very careful about betting the farm against a Hayabusa with a capable rider in the saddle.

My riding partner rides a Hayabusa . . . EVERYDAY (including today with -20oF wind chills) and I'd have a tough time imagining anybody making it look like a fat pig under him.

He's only ridden a Buell one time and that was in 1998 when he flew (first time on a plane) to Buell to go to Homecoming with me and got in trouble when his picture showed up in a mag getting the trophy for winning BattleTrax (that was the first day he ever sat on a Buell).

They 'Busa is a very well sorted out motorcycle. Simple physics dictate the it'll not do many things a 52" wheelbase will but I'd use great caution in tossing loose words about.

By the way. . . two of the times that I have had my ass most decidely handed to me were my "old men" (presumably my age) riding Kawasaki Concours.

Some of you guys kill me. I think you read into what people write and see things that aren't there. I never said I could beat a Busa, on any level, on my XB. I probably would have trouble keeping up with a Vespa. Some of us have seen the video of the dude on the Honda Gold Wing or Road King - whatever it is, making a high speed run through the Dragon doing things I can only dream of. Yea, a competent rider makes alot of difference but all things being equal there is an advantage in the cornering department for the Buell.
