Personally, I'm sure Buell is fine. I think the past fortells the future. The short lived race effort and the number plate debacle don't bother me. Those are not internal structural defects.

Having said that, let me say this: Reg's respiratory system is working alright and he gets pleanty of fresh California mountain air where he lives and rides...and I know for a fact that he rides waaaaay more than 90% of us. This is a conversation over a heartfelt cause, the success of Buell. Some are concerned from experience (Reg) and some are concerned about being doubted (anony). Take it easy on Reg. You really aren't reading his posts thoroughly and you are missing an opportunity by being overly defensive. Reg doesn't deserve to be denegrated.

Now me on the other hand, I do like being denegrated...

This truely has been an interesting sojourn from my usual haunt over on SadSAC.

I can't always agree with what I've read here, but I can't doubt the sincerity of the feelings expressed. One of the side effects of upper-middle-age (OK... old) is the ever- present exit ramp to Cynicism City. I take it occasionally, but life's too precious to take up residence there. I just stop by to lob a few shots at an easy target, whine about whatever's handy, and wallow in self-righteousness. Then someone like Jon comes whistling by, pats my head and nudges me back to Roseland. (If that doesn't make any sense to you it's because you didn't have as many Margadinner as I had for Ritas... or something like that.)

Stop on by the SAC sometime. It only hurts for a little while.

Give em hell, Reg.
And the rest of you lot would do well to actually read what he writes before tromping all over it.Stop taking things out of context and reading between the lines trying to find what is not there.
Reg is just shouting out what lots of us have decried in the past--P&A is horrible. There should be racing leathers, knee pucks, riding boots, carbon fiber everywhere, but even at the better dealers it's hard to find something to put on your xmas list. Tee shirts and coffee mugs is not going to do it.
And then there are the dealers themselves who treat Buell as a step-child.Granted,there are really good dealers out there, but for every one of them how many poor ones abound?
And the marketing, please, the last good ad I remember was the smiley burnout. Squirrels for petes sake??? The recent on-lie contest was another faux-pas as it was exclusionary instead of trying to include as many folks as possible. I mean, not all people are adept at photo-shop. And don't tell me I could learn. Not in a timely manner and it still illustrates my point.

How about asking Buell customers what they would like to see in P&A and what sort of ad campaign would attract them?

Reg makes a good point, go hang out at SacBORG once in a while. The worst "Buell bashing" posted here is high praise compared to what shows up on SacBORG. Really, it does kind of help you keep your perspective. There ARE a few guys over there that actually like Buells. Then there are others who are for some odd reason ecstatic that a Uly comes out third in a magazine's adventure tourer ride test.

I understand what Reg is saying about the anonymous posters, but it seems to me we have to take them as they are or lose what is occasionally a valuable source of info. Sure, they occasionally take advantage of their status, but OTOH I'm sure they often have to witness inaccurate info get posted by others and they can't respond because they'd reveal something they aren't allowed to.

I figure as long as you take EVERYTHING that's posted here (or at SacBORG) with an appropriate dosage of salt, it's OK.

Except that check defines a SERIES - and not a finite number.

Cool idea though - like paying your bill in pennies.

I'd change the equation. (dusting off the calculus text) - you could define the result in terms of the date... hmmm...

GEEKS TO THE RESCUE...

Now I got some homework but hey, today's DYNO DAY for the racebike down at Glendale HD/Buell - priorities man, priorities!

True, but the series portion of it approaches 1 as you approach infinity. Now, about the imaginary part...

Reg,

"On the other hand, given that Blake did not challenge me re my assertion that Erik & Steve are the posters, we now know that Anonymous speaks for the company. 'Course if there are other Anon posters... just who do we believe? "

It would be unwise to make any kind of assumptions concerning "anonymous" posters here other than to understand that they are people who have a valid need to remain anonymous in order to participate here.

I've never made any statements one way or another as to the identities of "Anonymous". The one thing I have tried to communicate when the "Anonymous" issue inevitably resurfaces is to assure everyone that I personally vouch for each "Anonymous" poster and the information they provide. I would hope that is good enough.

Nice try though. ;)

We're lucky that they bother with us, if they indeed are closely related to what's happening at BMC as it would seem. I have no problem with it.

Blake,
I did not expect you to violate the trust of your Anon. posters; I've never questioned your integrity, just your logic. There was no juvenile trickery afoot. I stated simply what I believe to be a fact, and will continue to believe until shown otherwise.

I did phrase what I wrote incorrectly. What I should of written was, "I now know that Anonymous speaks for the company."

Uh, back to topic you geeks, there's not a single word on this whole lame page about "Buell Hypersport"
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ya, I put 100 miles on my Buell today, and watched most of the ball game.
My 2,000 M2,( the best bike ever made...heheheh)

I think a badass hopped-up-Vrod powered (or new badass lightweight Buell motor) hypersport style, or just badass sportbike style machine would be sweet.
Did I say I like the idea?

I have not seen one scintilla of absolute truth or wisdom spoken from any anonymous poster in the last 8 years that I have been reading this board. Maybe someone could dig something up for me that I may have missed.

If something is worth saying, it is worth signing your name to it.

Ha ha! I was just reading your profile Jim, that's great, build a FI for the X1 that beats a carburated M2! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! They still haven't built an injected bike that beats a carburated M2! I feel your pain brother! That's why I still own and ride my M2, and haven't bought a new Buell yet. I'm waiting for the new Buell that can beat my M2 with authority, and they just haven't built it yet. I hope this is the year. COME ON BUELL HYPERSPORT!!!

I own both a Busa and a Buell, ('99 S-3). On any road, twisty, fast, or even gravel fire roads, I am consistently faster on the Busa.

Busa isn't slammed or stretched, and will lean over further without rubbing parts than the Buell.

Busa is more comfortable.

Busa is more reliable.

Busa cost less.

Busa resale is way higher.

Busa is unchanged in 7 model years, and still dominates.

So when cityslicker critisizes a Busa, I wonder how much he really knows?

When I want to go fast in a straight line I ride my Gixer. It has a turbo and makes 340 HP.

Now, lets talk about hyperbikes...
