Can you envision the look of the service manager at the local Harley shop, while I push in my '09 Buell for service with mud dripping off it I think that is the exact reason for the early announcement. The dealers are going to need time to prepare for this. |

yes, they are. Hopefully they will do it. Can you imagine a 300 lb, full beard,Tattooed, leather vested HD salesman trying to sell a dirt bike? Not picking on the 300 lb HD types, heck I have friends that fit that description. But, they don't sell dirt bikes for a living either. This is going to be a HUGE change for Buell dealers. |

Has anyone noticed any activity up at the Buell factory in regards to construction of additional buildings? I would think adding another line of bikes would require more space. This would be the first step before actually starting production. |

I think it was mentioned recently that the blast production line was integrated into the XB line (right Court?) which should clear some room for another line inside the production building. That is speculation on my part, about there being enough room for another line, but I had said before if the blast line was eliminated or changed into the XB chassis there would be room for a different production line in it's place. I was speculating on it being where the next generation street bike (water cooled?) would start, but it could just as easily be used for a multi-model dirt/motard/dual-sport line. |

If Buell comes out with an lightweight air/oil cooled Supermoto, or even just a dual sport, I will be buying a new bike. |

Lots of opinions, few facts. Funny how my opinions get a raise out of anonymous posters, yet my facts have 'em running. I'M STILL WAITING FOR ANONYMOUS TO GET BACK TO ME WITH THOSE BLAST PRODUCTION COSTS, SINCE THEIR OFFICE HAS BEEN OPEN AT LEAST 3 DAYS. Things sure are slow at the office. Rocket |

The other guys in the sales crew don't get me, don't get the brand. They introduce me to everyone that even whispers the word "Buell". Riding the bendy and dirty every chance I get. The only time my bike gets washed is at service appts. Hell I earned that mud. Dirty Bike? ... Fabulous. |

I'll reserve my comments until I see what transpires. About dealers, I agree. Our Buell sales have plummeted since we lost a sportbike enthusiast sales guy. I even sold a Buell as a parts guy. I'm too honest to be an effective salesman, though. (Message edited by Rick_a on February 01, 2007) |

Rocket I'm just sure their not getting back to you is because you have them on the run. Just sure of it. Hi Anony! I used your LA Times story to encourage a friend the other day. IOW, stay focused on the essentials, the details can totally change but the essentials will carry the ball for ya. You can build a great dirt bike with a clean slate. How many year-year changes occur with the CRF450? YZ450F? Even the KX450F? Not so much. Good designs don't need but incremental improvements. In a few years I'll be looking for a replacement for my XR650R made street legal... |

The dealer show in Florida was full of information on the line up of off road/motocross bikes getting ready to be introduced. The full line will be like the Honda XR and CRF lineup of sizes for the whole family. They are supposed to be aimed directly at the big four and AMA ready for the competitor. The 450 will be the flagship of the line to start. Our HOG chapter got this info on Thursday. |

Diablobrian: I think it was mentioned recently that the blast production line was integrated into the XB line (right Court?) which should clear some room for another line inside the production building. Yes, the Blast and XB lines are currently integrated. The old Blast line was used to produce the XBRR. When I was at the factory for a little tour just before Christmas, (Thanks Court!) Kenny (my tour guide) gave me the impression that the Blast was going to be moved back to its original line (but I may be wrong). He also said words to the effect that Buell outgrew the buildings they are in now the day they moved in, and apparently there had been some discussion (or at least rumors of discussions) of purchasing land on the other side of the highway, near the airport. I would agree though, unless the new dirt bike line is very closely related to the XB, (read: Practically identical except for the suspension and tires) They will most likely need additional space to set up another assembly line. Rocketman: I'M STILL WAITING FOR ANONYMOUS TO GET BACK TO ME WITH THOSE BLAST PRODUCTION COSTS, SINCE THEIR OFFICE HAS BEEN OPEN AT LEAST 3 DAYS. I seriously doubt if you will get it. I'm certain something like that would be considered a "Trade Secret". Therefore no one outside of Buell would be made privvy to that information unless there was a legitimate need, and I don't think an internet pissing match qualifies. Somewhere between $0 and $1 under sticker is as close as you are going to get. Anything else is at best an educated guess, with no proof or numbers to back it up. Rocketman: Well clever clogs, your sarcasm might read cool in one thread, but when you're intelligent and bright enough to ask or provoke the kind of questions many want answered on this forum, you can kiss my royal backside for me being the one dumb enough to be asking them. I have yet to understand why the question is important, let alone qualify as "intelligent and bright". Its plain to see that you only want the information as a means of rubbing Buells collective noses in shit. If I were them I wouldn't play your game either, so give it a rest. All Buells are currently "gumballed" on the same line. >>>(Thanks Court!) You are very welcome. . by the way, that was not JUST "Kenny" that was KENNY ROGERS. >>>I seriously doubt if you will get it. He won't. He's no credibility to warrant a response. No one at Buell will play the game. And my personal favorite. . .
quote:Buell outgrew the buildings they are in now the day they moved in,
Damnit . . . it JUST keep's happening . . I remember when this was the move to end all moves. . . .
Next thing you know . . . it's off to Woodcrafters to build the 300 (you did know Buell was SUPPOSED to be ONLY 300 bikes and that was it? . . right?) . . who'd have thunk orders would pour in. . . and off to 2719. Damn. . . that didn't work. . .now we learned to heat S-2 tank covers to speed things up and we're still in a pickle . . .let's expand. . . "yes, Mr. Commissioner. . . we PROMISE, the trailers will only be there for 90 days"((fingers crossed behind back)) . . what now, well let's add 5,000 SF to 2719. . yeah, that'll last us forever. . . damnit. . . we could use DOUBLE this for the new R&D effort . . . okay. . let's build 2799 . . but that's it, I promise. . . spin ahead to summer 2006 . . . guess what . . . we have a chance to move into a very large space in an undisclosed location that NO ONE will know about . . not even Court will be able to find it . . .
Yeah . . .that's it and then we'll never need to move again. . . . oh, unless we build dirt bikes.

No one at Buell will play the game. Just to be clear Mr Big, the Blast conversation was between myself and another poster. The meat in the sandwich was whether or not the Blast had watered down the Buell brand. I wasn't playing a game. I can't say the same for the anonymous poster who interrupted the discussion asking ME to play the 'Guess The Blast Build Price Game'. Man do you have to be such a no it all? Just last week I was shooting the breeze with the drummer from the most successful British chart band in history. Yeah, he played drums in a friends band at my 21st birthday bash, when he was just 14. He's a prick by the way. Two weeks previous I was on the phone to a great friend, since we were 11, and he was the first black fella to cover an Elvis song and top the Billboard 100 with it. I could go, but you know what, speaking of playing, I find the name dropping game vulgar. Riding on the crest of someone else's name / fame was never my bag. But you carry on. You're the champion of that game. Rocket |

Wood, I'd much rather debate whether or not the Blast has watered down the Buell brand or not without you acting the smart arse trying to play the good little Buell owner. I've not complained about anyone participating in this thread. On the contrary. In fact I've welcomed the input of some that suggested they could solve the dilemma going on here. That said, you're not one of them, though I do note your presence in just about every thread I'm in. If it's your purpose to pursue my every post, might I suggest you add something of your own to the board rather than dissect my every word in an attempt to feather your own cap. Either that or get a life. Rocket |

The meat in the sandwich was whether or not the Blast had watered down the Buell brand. The focus is to make money and a profit for your investors. If that means selling unicycles and guitars then so be it. Don't confuse one product with another and end up getting your panties in a wad. |
