Hey, love to hear what all you GUYS have to say about these great bikes, but I'd love to hear from the women who are riding the Buells. I've been riding for the past 8yrs and just bought my first Buell back in Sept, 2007 Cherry Bomb XB12SCG. My hubby and I are planning a trip for the summer on our bikes (he has an XB12R) and have plans on doing some track days. Will be going to Femmoto Track days in Las Vegas in October (for women only). Would love to hear from all you GALS riding Buells. (Message edited by jumpinjewels on January 18, 2007) |

Here's a quote from a woman who races a Honda (I think in SoCal), posted on another forum: I rode the Firebolt on the track a few times. It was at Femmoto so I was not racing or going fast. I would say I was going about canyon speed. The bike shakes like crazy at idle. Almost a joke how much it shakes. Blinkers were vibrating up and down. The bike smooths out once you take off. The one thing I did not like about the bike was how it would run wide in turns. This happened both years I rode the bike. I was going from bike to bike that day and when I got on the Firebolt it kept making me go to the outside of the track out of a turn. I am sure you could drop the forks and set the bike up a little bettter. It's a nice bike, but those were the two things I noticed about the bike. That’s all I can help you with. I don’t know anything about the other bike. That my two cents. Lisa (FYI: All the different Buells shook and ran wide, that I have ridden) Must not have been set up correctly for her 115 pounds... |

I ride a lot of twisties and have never had a problem running wide (except when I was getting the feel of the bike at first). I weigh 120# and have the suspension set up accordingly. What I have found is that if I get my weight INTO the turn, the bike just goes. I had an SV650 before this one and the main difference is that I do have to put more conscious effort into the turns. As far as the "vibrating", it's a Buell and that's just part of the bike that I love. |

These bikes reward proper body positioning to the extent that they nearly require it |

How much you want to bet the woman racer on the Firebolt was running stock Dunlop tires? Jumpinjewels, this is not something you need to worry about since your bike came with Pirelli tires. If you ever get a chance to ride an XB (S or R) that has Dunlop 207 or 208 tires on it I strongly suggest you don't. |

I just got an 04 Blast a couple of months ago. Love it! I'm in Chattanooga and there are so many places to ride. I'm ready to go hit those mountain roads. Going to hit the dragon in the spring! Can't wait! |

I miss home when I see pictures of Colorado. The rides are great, but the snow sucks. I have seen maybe four or five women on Buells the Tampa/St Pete area, but more women on metric bikes..it is a shame we need more ladies on the bikes it is good for the sport. |

Thanks Glenn! I'm excited about march badness and plan on going. Do they have a set place they meet? It's been awhile since I've been up in that area. Becky |

Have thought about going to the homecoming. What is the date? Have heard about and seen pictures of the dragon and it looks like a blast, but a bit too far from home. Hwy 92 in Colo has our name on it, not only twisty but incredibly beautiful. |

Hey Julie, I have been rding my M2L for five years. I love it because it has power, is light, looks great and it is MINE. My thing is taking long trips, though and camping off of it. I have gone to North Carolina and back, and several trips up to way NORTH Wisconsin and back to Madison on the bike. Really wanted to take a longer trip last year, but new job would not allow it. I might come out to New Mexico this summer. I haven't made my mind up yet. Haven't even been posting much lately. Used to be on Badweb alot between 2002 and 2003 and now I actually can't just screw off at work anymore. Aw it is worth making some bucks though. Let me know if you come up this way this summer. Julie, Homecoming is always centered around the AMA races at Road America. So that is always the first weekend in June. |

Folks, you wanna talk about 'reviews' of XB's? I did a quick search and found this one from some lady rider from back in '03.. I recently got a chance to ride the XB9R with it's 'race' kit installed. The new mufffler makes the bike louder (of course) and the new computer and air filter seem to be doing their jobs well. The increase in HP is not really noticable until you get on the throttle. The bike accelerates smoothly thanks to it's really nice fuel injection system and almost doesn't feel like your going as fast as you are, then as you reach the top of the tach you feel it kick in. With a grunt of torque and the familure pull on the bars that you get from most other sport bikes finally hitting you. Turns even at high revs with high speeds (ok, I was only doing about 85 in a 40) are easy and quick. The bike has an incredibly light feel to it with all the weight centered and lowered to allow you to really flick it over, even if your a little lighter than the guys that ride. Careful if you light (compared to some of the guys I ride with) you may change lanes without realizing it. Compared to a GSXR or bike of that ilk, this is not a screaming fast crotch rocket, however, once in the turns there is a confidence that makes you unaware of how far your leaning over. This thing has a 45* lean angle.. on both sides.. and you can find your knees a lot closer to the ground than you thought they were in a hurry! I did have to wonder about the popping and mini backfire sounds that I kept hearing. Did the 'race' kit cause this or is the bike not set up right first off? Brakes on this bike are incredible and you will want to play with the adjustable levers so that you don't high side yourself, it's a one finger stop on the front brake, while the back wouldn't stop you from 60mph in less than 150 yards (at least that's how it feels).. Of course, you just lay on the rear going into a turn, and with all that torque you pull right out of it with power to spare. The 'race' kit does up the rear wheel HP which this bike needs. At stop lights, I couldn't help but think I was sitting on a large vibrator but once it's rolling, that almost obscene and annoying buzz goes away for the most part. If like me, you like to carry a few extras for when you stop.. well the 'trunk' really isn't. I could fit maybe a small wallet, 2 tampons, a lip stick and a small cell phone in, barely. The CBR's have a much nicer trunk and a girl does need her carry space. The odd look of the bike (marvin the martian?) makes it kind of neat, it's not a 'every' bike. The colors are kind of woeful though. I like the blue but wish you had a choice of something other than that orange some color blind stylist picked for the lettering on that bike. The white version has blue and orange for lettering. Oh well.. it's minor and cosmetic but I get to worry about things like that, you may not care. The riding poisition, compared to a gixer or CBR is almost relaxed, your handlebars are a little higher up and your tuck is not as severe, this keeps less of your weight on the arms and lower back. Don't get me wrong, this is no toursport type ride. You will want to stop and take those stretch brakes while carving back roads, maybe just not as fast you would on a full bred sporter. Overview? If your looking for really fast, this is not it. If your looking for handling.. Grab this bike and hang on. If you want looks, it's unique enough to draw a lot of glances and even a few 'what is that?' at gas stations or other places you meet riders. It's fast enough for any back road or twisty, but on the super slab there are cruiser bikes (not just v-rod or Mr. Max) that I think can outrun it. But out turn.. never. For what it's worth.. I'd like to see a few better color choices. A little more power stock. Less backfire pop, pop while I'm riding and perhaps a little more room under the tail cowling. Hey, where do I hang my helmet on this thing? So it seems the V-Twin Vibe is something all the girls notice.. Hmmm... Maybe that's why all the best ladies ride Buells? Oh Kayyy.. I'm outta here before I type myself into trouble.. } |

Nice to hear from another nurse. It sure seems like there are alot of buellers in the mid-east and eastern areas. As far as space on my bike for stuff, THERE IS NONE. don't wear lipstick anyway so that doesn't matter. Do have the tail bag so at least have some storage. Will be getting saddle bags for the bike for our summer trips. Have been trying to get a picture on my profile and it seems to be close to impossible to get this done. still working on it tho. |
