So, Liberty H-D/Buell is a Rental Dealership. The Rental Program is called Harley-Davidson Rentals, but we had, in the past, included a Buell or two in the rental fleet, with results that were . . . eh. However, that is in the past. This year, we're ordering our rental fleet, and I (and a small but stubborn selection of employees here) are interested in adding a Buell or two to the rental fleet this year. I was wondering what everyone thought of the idea, and if we thought it was a good idea, which models we would like to see available. Some concerns that exist, which may be valid or imagined, are the amount of excessive wear a Buell may sustain compared to a Harley, some percieved dangers of people riding a sport bike compared to riding a Harley, etc. Of course, it would give people a great opportunity to do an "extended" demo on a Buell, since your average test ride around here sucks. You really have to get out west a bit to get to the good roads. Also, travelling Buellers would have an opportunity to fly out here and rent a Buell. Anyhoo - what do you guys think? | ||

i am all for it. i was just in las vegas over christmas and planned on renting a Harley for a day, but when i called to make the reservation, i was smart enough to ask if they had any buells. the lady said they had one Uly, i said book it! it was a wonderful 213 mile test ride, two up, and i believe helped sell a uly! ( i will try to get one later this year) | ||

A Uly is what someone else in the store suggested. I was afraid the seat height might eliminate some customers of a shorter stature? Esp if we only choose ONE Buell for the first year . . . | ||

Tilleys in Statesvile has at least one red xb12s. Talked to a guy ridding it at the dragon back in july. | ||

As far as I know, A dealership in Reno and one Ohio rent ulys just the uly. Hals is now starting buell rentals too. I think its a great idea. I wish more dealers rented buells. I told my local dealer (bumpus m'boro) if they rented out a Uly, I would rent it for the first week they had it. I'm not holding my breath on that one. | ||

the seat height isn't much of a problem now with the 07 seat, i was easily flat footed (2 up) with a 33" inseam, 1 up i was on the balls of both feet, much more confident than the standard 06 seat. i think the uly would have the most appeal, even to some who wouldn't even rent a harley! I also think a Uly would be a good start. I have a 29" inseam, and I can reach the ground on both sides, on my toes. That's fine because I am comfortable enough just to put one foot down, and in that case I can flat foot. | ||

Yeah, get a Uly and a Lightning; both with stock as well as low seats. That way just about everyone will be accommodated. | ||

They make a Low seat for the Uly????? Better than the low is the '07 seat. M2nc also has a 29" inseam and we have all 3 seats. Gotchya! So for 06 there was a Low Seat Option... but now there is only one seat. (that is lower than both the 06 seats. | ||

The CityX is a nice choice if you are too short to ride the ULY, (damn 29 inch inseam) Riding with the low Scg seat on the XB9SX, put the stocker on it and it will do well for a taller rider if they are riding solo. But of course the Uly is the one to have to rent to convert the H-D guys of Buells Touring and Two-up capabilities. I look forward to renting one when I travel in the spring | ||

I can tell you that I prefer the 07 seat. I can ride twice the distance before having the "gotta get off the bike" feeling. The gel like padding is just more comfortable than the 06 low. Can't remember much about the 06 standard. Good luck on your project! |
