Well it has come to the point where my C-Drive has just about run out of memory. I have my harddrive partitioned into two drives and need to add more memory to my C. I would like to take it from my D-Drive. How can I do this? |

Usual hints apply: delete temp internet files, downloads of zip files, saved games, most cookies, inbox clutter and deleted mail, trash folder, etc. Empty recycle bin. Best bet is probably to get another hard drive (if your box has room). HD memory is cheap. |

there are several programs available that can do it partion magic and bootit ng http://www.terabyteunlimited.com/ word of warning , back up EVERYTHING you dont want to lose . i once hosed a drive using partition magic . better solution is to buy a new bigger hdd not much more than buying one of those programs and the come with a utility to transfer everything over . |

maybe I should have been a little clearer about what I need. I have 1 physical hard-drive, 200 gig. My C-Drive is ~7 gig total, and my D-Drive is ~180 gig total. I am running out of space on my C but my D has ~150 gig of free space on it. I just want to know if there is a way that I can expand the C-Drive's memory without having to format my hard-drive. |

Acronis Migrate Easy served me well, and was worth the money. http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/products/migr ateeasy/ If you are working in there anyway, I would just spend the $60 and get a new (freaking huge) hard drive. You can keep the old data on the old drive as a backup until you are sure nothing was lost. |

Partition Magic (Symantec) works great. I use it frequently and have had few if any problems I can recall. I use it in combination with Ghost 9.0 (disk imaging - also Symantec). http://www.symantec.com/home_homeoffice/products/o verview.jsp?pcid=sp&pvid=pm80 |

Damnut, Partition magic or something called gparted will do the trick. partition magic cost $$, Gparted is free (linux) if you can burn a cdrom from an iso , you can use Gparted. What you should conside is just merging c & d together. Word of caution, Windows XP home will see this change as a major upgrade and force you to re-authenticate. The home editions do this when you change the HD, graphics card, or (I think) when you increase memory. I believe you get three strikes before needing to relicense. If you have room for another drive, they usually come with a program that will move your data over to the new drive (like maxblast from maxtor). But judging by your D drive use, I think the easiest thing would be to get gparted, shrink D and increase C. Backups are always good things when riding this type of road Good luck |
