I have been a lurker here for a couple years and finally decided to register. I own 2 HDs at the moment but have always loved Buells. I think I am going to sell one and pick up a Uly. I know most harley dicks dont like buells. How are most dealers? I have a friend with a gs650 and the beemer dealer got on his bike when he had a problem but thats probably not the case with most bmw dealers. I am also looking at the gs bikes. Which dealer is better to deal with as far as bike service? (Message edited by tuco on January 14, 2007) |

Generally speaking, no dealer is fun to deal with. They can be great to buy from but the relationship tends to fade fast. It's much more rewarding to do your own maintainance and repair. Luckily, Buell has created motorcycles that make this easy, quick and inexpensive. Buy Buell. You will wonder why you took so long after the first lube job. |

I used to recommend looking at the dealers that had BRAG clubs. That was a discriminator. BRAG meant the dealer had a supporting staff who were Buell enthusiasts. I'd maybe call your dealers to ask if they have a Buell riding group and then contact the riders themselves. If the dealer can't refer you to a Buell riding group contact person, it is probably not a good sign that they are working with their riders after the bike rolls off the showroom. Out here, Glendale HD/Buell has a list of folks they always have new and potential customers call or email to ask questions. I would imagine most of the "real" Buell dealers are the same. |

Our dealer is good at pretending would be my take, the are friendly to me and let me test ride anytime I like. It's a tolerable relationship, I do 90% of any work that needs to be done on the bike but what little they have done was good enough. |

My dealer's pretty cool. They've been right nice to me when they didn't need to be, let me ride what I want and made sure my used Blast was ready to go when I bought it without trying to talk me into something big. They sell A LOT of Harleys, however, and that's where they make their money so the Buell section is a small corner with 2 XBRs, a 9 and 12, and XB and a Long, a few T-shirts and a helmet. They're good about getting parts and there's a guy in parts (20s) and a wrench (30s) who ride Buells, so there is some support in there as well. I've told them about the BadWeb and the cult status of the bike and they'll likely be monitoring. I hope. |

My dealer ROCKS! Appleton HD/Buell. I get treated like a queen. It doesn't matter if I'm on my FXR2 or my XB. |

Every dealer I've been to in SE Wisconsin, other than Hal's, has done nothing but rip Buell. Lack of supply, having to keep floor space open for product they don't have. I was at Milwaukee Harley last summer. I remembered that they were a dealer so I asked one of the sales guys.."Where's the Buells?"..answer.."Why the hell would we keep carrying those?" I delt with Dick Behrens from Suburban HD, great guy, great deal. |

Tuco -- go jump into the Strom Front pages, and check what other local folks have to say about the dealers out there -- no better information available than that of locals, I"m thinkin the dealership landscape is highly variable -- some great ones (see the list of sponsors here), some not so great -- do some research before you buy the bike (unlike me, long ago)-- it'll pay off big time! |

Buying a bike is always the relationship. The bike is the same in FLA as it is in NY, Ct or any other domestic location. Take a look at the events that they host, the service dept, parts on hand, willingness to order parts and of course if there is someone on staff that rides the Buells that is the best place to go |
