In 66 a buddy of mine had a red X6. I remember it was a nice, quick bike. We rode together. I had a 305 Yamaha. Is the one pictured yours, and is it a recent picture. |

X6 is my father's...I clean it up for him once a year and this picture was taken just a couple of years ago before a show. This bike was originally purchased from a Suzuki Dealership that my Grandfather owned in Jasper, Indiana. It is a great family heirloom because the dealership no longer exists and my grandfather is now deceased. She still runs good. Everything is original, but I had to repaint the silver on the back fender. The blue stripe is still original and well-aged, so you can't tell that it has been repainted. My father just replaced the original front tire a few years ago During the winter, when we were kids, my father put a knobby on back and pulled us around the neighborhood on snow-sleds |

Nice looking X6. I think they called that the Hustler. I had an X6 Scrambler(which had the high pipes). Really liked that bike, super quick.Wheelies were a piece of cake. A friend of mine borrowed it and flipped it(broke his wrist). I traded it for a Ducati 350 Scrambler, another great bike.....Charlie |

Cyclonecharlie: You are correct. X6, Hustler or T20 or Super Six. It apparently had many aliases It had what many of us wish we had on our Buells...a 6th gear! The X6 was the first production motorcycle to have one, way back in 1965. |

Never ridden a 305. Were they small and quick also? |

I had a 305 Yamaha. I had a 1964 Yamaha YDS2 which was a rocket for its time. I can remember several 500 and 650 Triumphs that got a chance to eat rice. Those were the days my friend (sounds like a song coming on)! |

I had the Yamaha 305 Big Bear Scrambler, a model with high pipes and universal tires. On the winding roads, here in S.W. PA, none of the big displacement bikes of the time could keep up with me. I even took it into the dirt, although it really wasn't a dirt bike, and it even worked there. Here's a picture of the bike with the 250cc engine, my bike had the slightly larger 305cc.

Mine was the street model with the low pipes, it was relitively small and quick for it's day, especially compared to the British machinery at the time. |

Bake, The reason I bought my bike was because a buddy had the same model as you had. I used to borrow it. I humbled the Harley riders, while carrying a passenger, on that bike. |

my first street bike was a cb550 that i got when i was in the navy stationed in charleston, s.c. got hit on it had it fixed then i decided i liked the chopper look and had the front end extended along with ape hangers, four into two turn down pipes, king queen seat with a 16 inch wheel and tire mounted on the back so i could look like a harley. it was fun while it lasted. |

The CB1100F doesn't make for a good first bike when you're 17.

Unfortunately my grandkid lives in Hobart and he'll have to wait till I go over to get him sorted with a motor. Meantime this is good. Unless that yellow means it's a Suzuki...
