Can anyone speak about their dealer experiences buying a new Buell in the Southern Tier of NY or Northern Tier of PA... within about a two hour radius of Binghamton... have heard good things about Buell of Utica. How about Electric City in Scranton? I live about 10 minutes from STHD, just want to know if their are HD dealers near by that are committed to Buell customers. Any advice is appreciated -- thanks! |

American Twin in Corning NY is owned by the same folks that own Classic H-D/Buell in Reading Pa. I know they are looking to build a new store in Corning and also add the Buell line in the near future. The store in Reading also has track days and sponsor some Buell race teams. |

What Anthony said and more! When I had a warranty problem they immediately stepped up and fixed it with a smile and even topped off my tank. No hassles even though I highly modified the bike. I fouled a plug early at a track day at Pocono and they replaced my plugs while I was in the rider's meeting, and for free. Erik personally gave me the keys to my new bike at Liberty. And on and on ..... You can't go wrong @ Liberty. |

That's an accurate statement.

I also can say that I have been treated very well by the folks at Liberty. I had a problem with my 2003 that I never quite got around to fixing during the warranty period, but Liberty fixed it and got Buell to foot the bill. Another time I was out there on a demo day, and someone pointed out that my front isolator had failed. They offered to fix in then and there, under warranty, even though I had bought the bike elsewhere. Nice guys, and very knowledgeable and supportive of Buell. |

bignick: I bought my bike (05 XB12S) in Utica around this time last year, and they where a pleasure to do business with. They delivered it to my house (70+ miles away) and picked up my trade for no charge. I've talked to the GM up there for awhile about Buells (He rides an 01 M2). And any of the work I've had done there (recall on the kickstand) was top notch. Also during the summer they have Sunday hours (including service). I was at Southern Tier HD/Buell once when I was doing some work near Bing. Stopped in to get my hat, and didn't get a great feeling. But it could have just been the day. Just my $0.02. -Patrick |

Thanks all! I'm planning on a spring purchase, so I have some time to check a few places out... I don't mind a trip for the purchase or service... just want a place to feel comfortable at. I'll check out all of the above... probably Utica this weekend, Liberty next weekend if schedule permits. Doon... I don't think your feeling is too far off base. I'll be shopping around -- not for price -- but for comfort level. Just want to buy from a place that thinks Buell's are as cool as I do... not just the "other" line of bikes at an HD dealer! Thanks for the feedback! |

My impressions of some of your dealer choices. I'm only a Buell owner and did not buy my bike at any of these dealers but did have some recall, um I mean UPGRADE, work done at Southern Tier. Utica HD: I had a real interesting experiance there looking for a Uly to try out when they were first introduced:http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/142 838/148048.html Southern Tier: Seemed to have a couple very savy Buell people in the service dept, but the sales people were very HD oriented and not particularly Buell educated. Performance HD/Buell in Syracuse: Not worth the time to stop in if you are interested in Buells, but an amazing shop if you are a HD type. IMHO if I were going to purchase a new Buell from one of these dealers it's be at Utica as they seem to really have 'come around' to being a knowledgeable Buell dealer. Ahhh, a trick question I see here! lol I purchased my lighting from sthd this past summer. I did buy it used. The entire purchasing experience was wonderful. I dealt with Brian and he was very knowledgable on Buell. He was also very laid back and let me buy the bike instead of "selling" it to me. I will buy from there again and it will probably be with him. Now the flip side.....I am not thrilled with the parts staff there. It seems like if you're not there buying Harley gear then you're wasting their time. Now this next statement is in general to all Buell/H-D dealers I've been too. I get the feeling that they don't give Buell as much respect as the bikes deserve. Almost like you're just a kid buying a crotch rocket and not spending the cash that they get on the chromed up HOGS........Just my feeling in general. from a drive time perspective, Danbury H-D in Danbury CT is about the same distance as Rahway. I bought my bike from them and had a very good experience. They have a number of very knowledgeable Buell folks in parts and service and a number of them ride Buells |

I've been dealing with Electric City in Scranton for alot of years, but I haven't bought any bikes from them yet. All good experiences though from my other purchases. Their new location is nice, and huge, I kinda miss the old location downtown though. |

i use to manage electric citys sales department from 2000 to 2004, and yes they were a good buell dealer, but this is were i make my home now. and there is to me no better place to buy and have a buell serviced at. just so you know i took a very large pay cut to come work for the best buell dealer. that why i drive every day 100 miles here and 100 miles back to the pocono's |

that why i drive every day 100 miles here and 100 miles back to the pocono's Is that uphill both ways? with three flats?(or one in the summer). You really can't go wrong with Liberty. I had a warranty issue at 600 miles that they totally painless and worth my trip across state lines to purchase bike in first place. It's pretty much like this. Liberty does not sell Harleys, liberty does not sell Buells, Liberty sells Motorcycles that happen to be Harleys and Buells! That is the difference if you know what I mean. |
