I'm winterizing the old S2 and wanted to give the gas in the tank a dash of Sta-bil fuel stabilizer. I, or course, can't find any at the surrounding autopart stores. I did however find and old (4-6 years) bottle of HD Winter Fuel Treatment. Given the age - of said additive, not me - would it do the job and keep my gas from turning into gunk. Or should I just continue my search for a fresh bottle of Stabil? Henrik |

Try a Gander Mt or outdoor retailer, I use Stabil in my outboards every winter. I don't know if it has a shelf life, but a new bottle wouldn't be a bad idea. |

Just checked a bottle of Sta-Bil in my garage for use and this one had a 2 year shelf life. |

Henrik, if you can't find it let me know. I sell two different size bottles at my store. If interested, let me know and I'll work something out. Small-$4.99/8oz/treats 20 gallons Large-$11.99/32oz/treats 80 gallons JIM |

Thanks Jim. I appreciate the help and offer. I'll take another walk around Manhattan and Queens before I bother you. Thanks again Henrik |

Even with sta-bil, I had to clean out the idle circuit on my M2. Still, far better than the years of bikes before sta-bil, with the spring carb tear down & clean. |

Yep - I'll take a bit of cleaning over the full tear-down/rebuild I had to do this summer Henrik |

I just completely pulled apart my snowblower carb. It always had fuel with stabil, and the carb was a mess. From now on I am thinking I will just run the thing dry before storage. Don't know if it will be better, but I can't imagine it being a lot worse. |

Even with stabil, I found that it was best to drain the bowls (carbed) |

Home D came through for me today. I'm all set with Sta-Bil. Thanks for the replies and offers of help. As for the carb - yes, always add Sta-Bil to the gas, take the bike for a spin around the block. Then turn off the gas with the bike running and let it run 'til it dies. That *should* get most of the gas out. Henrik |
