My cousin is getting married next summer and he lives in OR. I was toying with the thought of flying out and riding back. How much do you folks think it would cost? |

Oh come on, I know a few of you know about shipping bikes. Please let me know where to begin. |

Cost about the same probably, but a much better story would come out of the ride home. I am guessing around $600 to $800. |

Any company you would recommend for this? |

I've looked into these, but have no direct experience:: http://www.funtransport.com/ http://www.motorcycleshippers.com/ http://www.dasautoshippers.com/motorcycle-shipping .html?EADID=004Motorcycle_Shipping My brother has had good experience with the last one, but he never buys anything that runs. "Delicate handling" isn't as important for basket cases. |

forward air used to ship bikes for $300-400 in the continental US. I think they even have crates for it. It's been a few years since I helped a friend pick up a bike from the terminal. The bike must be shipped dry, no oil, no fuel. I'd check with them about prices and requirrments for shipping. |

Ditto on www.forwardair.com only "drawback" is that it has to be delivered and picked up at their terminals. They don't do "housecalls". Their price is very competitive. |

I had a bike shipped from LA to Mass a few years ago (an Ironhead Sportster). I used Daily Direct. I would imagine that it would cost 600 - 800 now. If I remember right, the phone # was 1-800-HAUL BIKES. |

We have used Federal Companies in the past and have been happy with their speed and reliability. Visit their website www.funtransport.com or call 1-800-747-4100 ext.217 for a price quote. |

I had a good experience with ForwardAir. They didn't even check the bike to see if I had drained the fluids. They gave me the crate, I drove the bike in, strapped it down and locked the door. Done. It was in the neighborhood of $350 from Houston to Portland OR if I remember correctly. |

Correction, I PUSHED the bike in the crate. I did drain the fluids, even though they did not check. |

Nate, I've used Forward Air and Daily direct. Forward air is cheap and fast, but you need to drain the gas and disconnect the battery. They say you need to drain the oil too, but they don't check. I had a bike shipped from TX to OR for ~$350.00 plus the cost of locks and straps. Took under a week. I've used daily direct too. (HaulBikes) WI to OR for $675 and a full month in transit. No prep required. My assumption was that I'd ride off the truck, but it took so long the battery was dead. Where in Oregon? |

Portland is still the closest airport. Camus WA is a Portland bedroom community, just across the river. |

I just got a quote from the Harley (HOG) site, from Myrtle Beach to Everett, WA, door to terminal for $980. I think door to door was $1020 Another quote I got from the Company moving my cars, (I'm relocating to Bellingham, WA) was considerably higher despite the fact that they were already making a trip. |
