There was a thread started by some one asking why there are so many XB's for sale. All I can say to that is it's a load of bullshit. I have a Ducati race bike that I want to sell to get a XB for the next race season. I search salvage bike site's, I check Ebay, I look on the CCS and WERA's boards. I have yet to find a "deal" on a XB. If you can even find them. Salvage XB's are going for a pretty good amount of $$$. Although I think some people on Ebay are a little high on their prices, there isn't much on there. So, where are all these XB's for sale, and who will trade me?? Huh, Huh??!! I have yet to locate this magic place where the Buells are lined up for people to pick and choose at their own will. (well, maybe the dealer, but the wife ain't going for a NEW bike to be torn down for racing) So if anyone knows , let me know. Could it be that people are actually keeping these bikes? I know I see more and more at the races. |

I know - it took me a year to find an XB frame and swing arm - and that was a piece of luck! Good luck! GT - JBOTDS! EZ |

Blastered... I wish you were closer and I had the cash. I still haven't sold my 'Strom and am about ready to just dump it on e-bay. Not easy to sell a bike these days. |

Well, speaking from a racers view point, I would rather trade the Duc race bike even up as opposed to trying to sell it THEN look for a bike. Most racers aren't looking for a super clean, tricked out, polished frame, painted rims, bar end mirror, dyed body work bikes. As far as the XB's most are looking for 12's, not 9's. Personally the few extra revs out of the 9 don't make up for the lost torque of the 12. Most are looking for R's but unless you're on a long, fast track, like Daytona or Road America, the S would be a good track bike as well. I can tell you ,with out a doubt, that the XB's hold up to a crash a lot better than people would think. I've seen it first hand, a number of times. I love my Ducati. I'm just more comfortable on the XB because that's what I ride on the street. I'll have to check out CycleTrader. Thanks for the tip. Ebay? I'm a little leary. I like to look at what I'm getting before I commit. |

Yep one less Buell on my street! Happy happy feet lol. I will have to find some other way to entertain some and annoy others. But now that it is gone I won't talk about it much. BTW Bought a MZ660 traveler from Steve. What a fun, albeit gutless little toy. Reminds me of a 125cc sport bike. |

I'd run a punched-out 9 rather than a 12 It has better throttle response and makes glorious power up to 8000 RPM. Of course over-boring is pricey but at 1169cc, you won't be wishing you had more torque. Just had the heads re-worked. PM me and I'd be glad to share notes on motor, suspension, all the usual. Of course if you do all your own wrenching, the big bore, short stroke isn't all THAT expensive. Jeff Dixon has been racing my bike for Bartels this past season (I return to racing this month after paying off massive medical bills) - he prefers my bike to the Bartels XB-12 even though the 12 might make another 5 HP. |

After the first of the year, you'll see more bikes and the prices will come down a little. I just picked up an '06 12R with <3k on the speedo for less than $7k, and the guy was nice enough to bring it from TN to Birmingham, AL for me. The only way to tell the bike is used is by the brake dust on the front wheel and the odometer. It did have a set of tomahawk tires on it though. Not sure about them yet. |

Uhhh... it's WINTER. And having bought a lot of used bikes in my life, I know you have to usually travel a bit to get the one you really want. |

you dont want to sell your bike. you want to trade your duc that's been used as a racebike (albeit with some nice parts on it, but crashed too!) for an XB. that's a very different deal than not being able to buy one with cash... it took me about 5 months of looking to find one at a price i was willing to pay. and that was with one deal that fell through twice. There's another one out here for $3K DANG! Christmas season, vacation and stuff. DOUBLE DANG... a running XB I need another racebike - a B bike. Wonder if Sunny would kinda "forget" about our San Diego vacation in a couple weeks. |

Plus, I can almost smell this thread becoming a bombardment of "dude, buy my bike!" P.S. If you really want it, you'll drive for it. When I bought my Duc, I lived in Cali, and bought it out of NC. Sometimes to get what you can't live without, you have to make a road trip. |

I don't know where this you see this becoming a "buy my bike thread". As for traveling to get one, I don't see anything in my post stating I wouldn't travel. It's winter? No shit!? I live in Wisconsin. Not able to buy one? Where does that come from Dora? Why are people jumping down my throat? As far as my knowledge for Buells holding up well to crashes..... you know what? I'll leave it alone. I DO have someone interested in a trade right now. Think I'll look into it. HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE!! |

sheesh rocco, you'r being a bit sensitive arent you? i was talking about you not being able to find a transaction you liked, not your earning power. i know i've crashed my buell a couple times - and that's at least part of where you learned they crash well. its not a secret D |

Well Dora. The way you worded it doesn't come across like that to me. If you didn't mean it that way, I am sorry. I consider you a friend and I don't want to loose you as one. Partly basing my opinion on your crashes. But even more so on Julians which his bike seemed to take a worse beating than yours and still held up great. You have totally proven my point on the XB thing, as well as ezblast. THAT is why I'd rather trade than sell my bike and try to find a XB. Look how long it took you two! It seems there is either ones going for fair market value, or basket cases that I don't have the time to tinker with. Have to be in the right place at the right time I guess. If I can find one, great! If not, the Duc still gives me more than I can handle at this point! |
