Winter has finally made its way to coastal NC. I walked into the living room this AM and saw this through the porch window.
I hope that YOUR day is great.... |

Cool photo Oldog. I wish I had had a camera here yesterday morning- it was SNOWING in Charleston, SC. Big, fat, fluffy flakes were pouring down (mixed with rain) at 8 AM. Temp was in the 40's so nothing stuck, but it was pretty. This is a weird storm we're having for this time of year: torrential rains, wind, SNOW, and thunder & lightning last night. |

yeah, I'm confused. When did winter correlate to rainbows? I thought they were called rainbows for a reason. |

You don't even want to know what winter is like here... At least I get to ride 365 days a year but I do indeed miss the 8' deep snows of Alaska... |

We had 32F this morning with a little frost but the first snow flake has yet to fall. But I'm ready, the snow thrower has been checked out and fueled up. Nothing more invigorating than following a snowblower around on a brisk day.
And for the record, that is *not* me. You wouldn't catch me wearing a silly hat like that! Jack |

Photochopped the engine out too... so really just a man-powered plow. I think a shovel would be more effective. |

Yeah, I don't know why that was done to that photo. I have a photo somewhere with a Mopar 440 powered snow blower, maybe you guys can morph those together? Jack |

Hey I got to ride today in Rochester, NY. left the garage at 30 degrees, all the way up to 32 when I got to work. Air's pretty cold at 32 degrees and 50 mph! One more month to go and I'll have ridden all 12 this year. Go Global Warming |

Well its just cold here now around 0 celsius in the mornings and going to 5-8. I guess that would be 30-40 fahrenheit???? We really don't get any real snow until January and then its gone again by the end of March. But when you get on average 500cm on the ground in that time frame it can be fun. I actually rode the Scooter to work today.....now that looked funny......

it's nice to ride year round but it does get a little depressing around xmas without any snow on the ground when you grew up in the north (pittsburgh area) |

But when you get on average 500cm on the ground in that time frame it can be fun. I can’t for the life of me understand why you wouldn’t just go ahead and call that much snow 5,000mm? |

Believe me, it only takes a couple of seasons to get used to the fact that there's no snow on the ground. When I call my family on Christmas Day after a quick 100-miler on my Lightning they sure sound awfully jealous. |

"I can’t for the life of me understand why you wouldn’t just go ahead and call that much snow 5,000mm?" It all about tolerances. Its the only way you can get the pushing speed and cutting depths right, Pete. If you're talking 500cm you know he might be off on the average snow depth by 10cm, with 5000mm latter he might be off by 10mm. So it can make all the difference in the world on how you hold your snow shovel, what speed and cutting width to use on the snowblower or a blade plow. Those are all the important things you have to worry about when you're out there at sub freezing temperatures with your eyes watering, ice in your beard, half frozen snot hanging from your nose, and half frozen fingers and feet. Hello,Mr. Newfie,i've got a question.I've been as far as northernmost New Hampshire and experienced temperatures to -20F.Pretty damn cold i say. You're much farther north right? How cold does it get up there in Newfieland in the dead of winter? As cold to gel up the Diesels to where they won't run? WOW that's COLD!! I like the cold too btw.. |
