That thing should be classified as a Class I Narcotic. I know if I got my hands on a PS3, I'd never study or go to class (or probably even the bathroom) ever again. |

They've been sitting outside by building with their wristbands for the last 2 days. Are these games like Pong? |

>>>>I think the people camping out to get one need to get a life? Typical words from someone who's never known the joy of spitting out the 65th floor window.

I don't think I've ever been in a building with 65 floors? |

I got arrested once for throwing 1600 paper helicopters off of the CN tower once. They never caught me for spitting from the 38th floor of some hotel in Philly though. Scored a direct hit too. I had a cold and it was a legendary loogie. Truly legendary. Daves, like i needed to get a life for sleeping out for Grateful Dead tickets? Playstation? Never had one. I think you need a TV for those, right? |

I wouldn't camp out for tickets to a Dead show either but I can at least understand that a little more. Not like you can just walk up and buy those tickets a month from now. I won't even wait more than about 15 minutes for a table at a restaurant. I hate waiting in line. I think you are correct about needing a TV for a Playstation but I'm not sure. |

"I got arrested once for throwing 1600 paper helicopters off of the CN tower once." I was asked to leave the Howell House highrise apartments (near Georgia Tech) for throwing 1000 paper airplanes out from my 11th floor window... every weekend for about 3 months. It took the building super that long to figure out where all the trash was coming from. He was really upset about having to pick up all the paper airplanes blowing around in the parking deck. The management never bought the excuse that I was doing research for an engineering class and kicked me out. That was a long time ago, before home video games. |

All those guys who feel the need to camp out and wait should join the military, not only would they get a life and grow up, they would get to camp out and wait a lot. |

so how much is one going to retail for in the store? |

Retail is $499 or $599 depending on model. I just drove by Best Buy here and it looks like Woodstock in winter, tents, sleeping blankets, inflatable matresses being used as wind breaks, snow suits and ski masks. Loosers. |

I think 500 or so, which is about 200 more than the PS2. If you really want one, you know what the secret is to getting one? Go to Sears. None of these kids ever think about going there. |

While I'm not in a hurry to get something like this, it is relatively cheap concidering it's capabilities. A BluRay player is $999 at Best Buy. The PS3 is 1/2 that price and you get a gaming system also. Personally....I'll spend my time either working on my bikes, playing with my dog or hanging out with my wife (in no particular order, just depends on the day) |

I don't see why all the commotion over what is essentially just another console. PC gaming is where it's at, always has been. My kids both want that thing, and the Nintendo Wii. They can spend their own money on it... My main problem with it is the controllers, so clumsy and inaccurate. Aiming and moving with your thumbs is, well, lame. I'm interested to see if Nintendo gets the motion-sensor controller correct this time, so many have bungled that before that I'm really skeptical. I guess if you just want sub par games, and not have to muck about with the operating system, then consoles are....ok.... I suppose. meh! |

From what I understand the PS3 was released in Japan last Friday November 10th. Sony is already having problems with it. The Console which has been advertised to be 100% backward compatible, isn't. It doesn't play sound on some of the games, and it won't even play others. Considering that most gamers already have games for PS and/or PS2 that's a huge hit. Now gamers will need to keep the old console if they want to make sure they can play their old games. Sony has said they will try to fix the software glitch, but haven't figured out the logistics of it yet. It'll most likely be an exchange program or it will need to be sent in to the Sony repair shop to be upgraded. Blu-Ray or not, it's a slap in the nuts to charge $600 for something that doesn't work as advertised!

Actually, since the console is network compatible you should be able to apply an update online. I had heard of some backwards compatibility issues in some of the test consoles sent to reviewers. To me, not an issue. I remember when I got my PS2 and kept a bunch of my PS1 to play. I think I played a couple of them once. After you played a next gen game on the new console, why the hell would you want to revert back to the crappy graphics and gameplay. They just weren't any fun anymore. I sold off all but 2 of my PS2 games about a year ago because of the PS3. I knew I wasnt going to want them and they were just going to depreciate even more if I waited. Now what the hell do I do with my PS2? I guess it goes into the box in the basement along with my Nintendo NES, and my Atari. |

I would love to have one, but there is a problem - I can't get used to the controllers! I'm excellent with the mouse and keyboard, but never got used to those stupid thumb controllers. I just wish they made a mouse/keyboard for these play things...
