You might love your V twins for all the right reasons. I do too, but Blake it is not just me who likes the looks of the Brutale. All the worlds motorcycling press often call it the most beautiful bike ever made. As for the IL-4 you would fall for it the minute you got past 4000 rpm in 2nd gear. Granted though, it's not an M2. Probably the greatest motorcycle ever made, lol. Rocket |

Because to me it looks ridiculous and also because its engine is an inline-4. Ahh but you'd be in the minority on that call } |

And in your naked bike stats, Buell is shown topping BMW, Moto Guzzi, and KTM. Please hurry and go warn those moto manufacturers of their impending lameness. LOL! |

BMW and Guzzi hardly can call their bikes naked so you just highlighted exactly when the sales stat's are manipulated to suit the marketing bullshit. As for KTM, Buell could only dream of out selling them unless it's in a country where KTM's aren't sold. Then they just might have a chance Rocket |

I repeat, Exclusivity is not a bad thing. If I wanted a big seller, I'd have bought a Honda. Buell seems to be doing alright and, I'm sure, will stay. I like it that I don't have a bike like everyone else. |

Typeone, You opinion is as valid for you as mine is to me. For me all the complexity and lumps and bumps appear ridiculous. I'm not of the "Transformer" generation. Show me a front view of that mongo radiator. "Gorgeous"? Not to me. I'd prefer the Ducati Hypermoto 1000 times more. |

oh, i agree, Blake. we each have our own taste... for example, that 'hypermoto' contraption Ducati puked out looks ridiculous to me enjoy your spat, boys. i was only pointing out that the Brutale has yet another gawker. yes, radiator and all.. . flat out gorgeous. |

Exclusivity is not a bad thing. Really?
Which just goes to show even the Italian's can get it wrong. Again, the exclusivity argument has nothing to do with the subject matter of this thread. We were talking about sales performance in relation to the expected popularity of the new model TT, and in particular the Italian market where allegedly 762 XB12S sold in one sales year - 2005. I believe the argument stands on one side that if Buell can achieve such lofty targets with one model, why not expect similar (perhaps better) with another if they take to market a fashionable jewel. The other side of the argument would be, 762 XB12S sold in motorcycling fashion mecca Italy, where soon to be launched Hypermotard, a host of new Aprilia, MV offering a supermotard Husky, KTM freshening up their Super Duke (looks better than ever), Triumph's latest and best yet Speed Triple and god knows what else coming to an Italian showroom not near you for 2007, and, and, and wait for it.................................Buell pitch in with the TT rehash. That's the kind of exclusivity you want from your beloved? I guess the sales figures we see in a couple of years will settle this one. Either way though great sales do not prove a motorcycle great. Anyone can be fooled, and I guess the marketing blurb and those towel wings will turn someone on. Me? I'm still a bad boy who's been waiting since about 1999 for Buell to turn me on again, this time with a Superfighter S1 tube frame minimalist type 150mph missile. I stopped holding my breath when Buell went 'Blasting' instead. I knew then the writing was on the wall. Put it another way. Buell these days is like a reformed villain let loose at a parole officers convention. When do we get to see the XB12TT Vatican Special - The Holy Grail of Buell? I hear there's going to be a signature series too. Signed by Pope Benedict himself and resplendent with numbered solid gold plaque. The bad news? It's only going to be available in Italy - Thank the Lord. Rocket |

another thoughtful point on a very thoughtful thread. spekaing of huskies, uniqueness, boutiqueness and v-twins...anyone remember the ole husky vee twins? i don't follow the motorcycle press at all, i am blissfully ignorant of the 'new models', and i do agree with blake that that brutale looks kinda...wellll.....production-line as a result of the cookie-cutter inline 4. conversely, i absolutely agree with "the rock"'s hilariously adroit statement about the 21st century buell seeming like a felon on paper at a PO's convention. we don't want our antiheroes, our villains, our bad boys to grow up, to reform, etc. there will always come a day when little jackie paper no longer returns to visit with puff, however. and for buell, that day has, by all available evidence, come to pass. hey- i was the guy who suggested, crowed and predicted a buell dual-sport for four years, now (although i expected one on the blast paltform, after the blast was introduced), and i'm not about to predict a barebones, bxoter-esque streetfighter form them. the tail-wagging the-tail-wagging-the tail-wagging the dog coefficient would be ironic beyond measure. let's just remember that the most successful concepts which harley-davidson hawked to the world were designed around what the period felons built out of their production garbage wagons. i would love to see buell actually offer an american streetfighter, replete with triple-tree stunt pegs, DOT-spec mini-lights, and falt-black, barebones sensibilities levelled at the urban market. call it the buell "oh, Sit!" maybe release a sean-john version, or have a 'p-diddy' signature edition. sell something to the brothers, and white middle america will buy 90% of your available inventory...} |
