there used to be 4 harley dealers within an hour of me that carried Buells. now NONE of them do and i got the same reply from each of their service dept." too hard to work on" "too expensive to work on" " too many problems" "we couldn't sell them" I guess my ? is this a growing trend are the bikes that big of a PITA. maybe the dealer guys can weigh in here. my bike would've never gone to a dealer for service anyway but this really bothered me. |

I was told by one of my local dealer's mechanics, Don't know nothing about them, don't want to know nothing about them, we have one guy that works on them, come back when he is here. It made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. |

Screw `em, Screw Harley and Screw Buell too if they can't fix this problem. We need BUELL ONLY dealerships. I plan to keep my current bike for 3 or 4 years. If this isn't fixed by that time, I will not buy another Buell. (Message edited by naustin on November 12, 2006) |

You don't need one, Daves is just a phone call away. I am 100 miles from the nearest dealership and it isn't a problem. |

I hate buying parts when it should be covered under warranty. Wolf that wouldn't happen to be our favorite dealership would it. The service writer hates buells that is for sure. |

I consider myself lucky because my dealer has a good service department. I picked up my Uly from its 15,000 miles service and ran into the owner of the dealership. We talked about this very issues and his comment was that he has several Buell trained technicians including the service manager. He says he does this so if one leaves he can still take care of the service needs of his customers. Several of the service techs actually like working on Buells. Every time I talk to the Service tech he comments how impressed he is with the Uly. As far as PITA, I find the design of the bike very simple. It is not hard to work on, just different from other Harleys. So people just do not do well with change. They cussed the Vrod when it first came out too. I personally know of two cases in my neck of the woods where the "Many Problems" with Buells was nothing more than a poorly trained technician. Something that Buell & Harley definitely have to work on. |

personally I think there far easier to work on myself. as for the people you were talking to. *&%$! them. this is still a XL based engine. I would love to here one of them say that crap about a v-Rod. they would never even see the door open before it was slammed on there back side. again %$&#@ them and the manager that hired and still employs them. |

Don't gripe about Buells too much. I just spent over an hour taking all the plastic off my Honda ST1300 just to snug up the hose clamps that were starting to leak and over 2 hours putting it back on. I've never had to tighten the hose clamps on my S3 and it sure doesn't take that long to take off the little bit of plastic there is. I haven't had the Honda back in the dealer in the 17,000mi. I've ridden it because just think of the service charge I would have paid just for the plastic removal and re-install? |
