Johnc, I had the scrambler version of the 305 Yamaha (Big Bear Scrambler), bought it new in, I think, 66. A great handling bike. |

I had a ball on my 92 Kawa Zephyr 750. I rode it from Nor Cal to Idaho & back. On the way home I had a degu (south american rodent that looks like a cross between a rat & a squirrel) that I got in Lewiston strapped to the back of the seat in a small plastic aquarium. I spent the summer of 94 riding around with my helmet hanging off my elbow thinking I was cool. (The law said you had to wear a helmet, it didn't specify where) I miss that bike a lot. I think mostly because I was young when I had her. |

Diablomichael and I shared a little Kawasaki KE100 when we were kids and the time we spent riding that were the best memories I have of my childhood. I wish I could get that bike back. Other than that, I really enjoyed my 84 VF1000F Honda interceptor. great bike, if you didn't mind constantly synch-ing the carbs, and checking the Voltage regulator plug routinely for corrosion (even current interceptors have that weakness). My old GSXR 750's 86&87 were really fun bikes, if you didn't mind wringing it's neck, or the lack of sporty 18" tires. The firebolt is my all time favorite so far. As much for the people as for the bike itself. |

My favorite so far was a 1972 Honda SL70, I just sold it a couple of years ago. The little kid I sold it to wrecked it when he jumped a really big drainage ditch on his farm. I also really liked a 1974 Honda CR 125 with the DG Laid-down Shock Kit on it. I had a Beta 250 Trials bike for a while, but by the time I got the trials bike that I always wanted, I was too old to ride it like it was supposed to be....LOL Diablobrian, I had a friend with a 84 Honda Interceptor, Man was that bike fast, It felt like the chain would skip when he would make hard accelerations with two people on it. You could feel the frame flexing and the bike wouldn't track straight. He ended up crashing with his girl friend on the back in the mountains when a deer jumped out infront of him, broken wrist for her and a damaged shoulder blade for him. |

Still my favourite...
Strange how popular opinion has gone full circle, from the original tagline 'every road's a racetrack' to 'dated 80's dinosaur' to (this week) 'uber-cool pocket rocket dripping in exotica'. Only the first one is true. |

1982 Suzuki GS1100E. w/Yoshimura, etc. Champagne w/orange lettering, & the previous owner ( "Rocking Ronnie", who's Mom was a dispatcher for the State Trooper's ) recovered the seat in 1968 Hemi Orange Vinyl. For one entire summer, I got pulled over by every cop the county, with a hearty "How's the Mom?". The Ton & a half top end & raw, LOUD power made knowing every LEO a real plus. It's gone, & "Buttercup" my '01 M2L holds my affection now. |

1974 Suzuki GT 750 "Water Buffalo". I rode this bike coast to coast twice, put on about 75,000 miles trouble free. Still sorry I sold it, someday perhaps I will get another and restore it. It still would be a great bike today, with improved suspension, braking and a modern chain. My T160 Trident was a neat bike, but I had to keep searching the roads for parts that fell off. Still nice, though, and fun to ride. I bought one of the first TX 750 Yamaha twins. A reliable Norton ( without the fine handling of a Norton though ). Or so I thought. Poor engineering doomed this bike, many faults. I had very high hopes for this bike. You never forget your first girlfriend, or your first bike. My first bike was a B100 Suzuki, and boy did I have fun on that. Until my friends with 350 Yamaha twins smoked me ( literally ). So I bought a 1969 T-500 Suzuki, which withstood 30,000 miles of abuse, including years of drag racing with Daytona racing cylinders, chambers and proper gearing. Fast for the time. I have owned many other bikes, and I liked them all, some more than others. The only bike I really disliked was a BMW R75/5 I bought new, which was a lemon from day one. My Buell S3 is still my all time favorite. Still puts a smile on my face with each ride. |

Bikerjim99, I have a 1975 GT750 (Water Buffalo) in my garage now, haven't ridden it for over a year. Great bike, but, now I get on my Buell. |

Had to post! You guys talking about the Buffalos, I've got 6 of em in my garage. Of course 5 are for parts mostly, but you'd never believe what can be restored now a days! My 75 is just waiting for some Lectrons to match the chambers and squish head I've put on her. She's got electronic ignition and alloy wheels too. She's a keeper, right there next to my 06 Lightning. |

Because I don't find time to ride it anymore, I'm thinking about finding it a good home. No good sitting there. |

It's funny hearing you guys call them Water Buffalo's. Over here they're more affectionately know as a Kettle. There's a distant Buell connection there too. Barton was converting the air cooled triples to liquid cooling before they went on to develop the engine that Buell inherited. Incidentally, the Barton / Buell engines architecture was copied from the RG500. Rocket |
