If you can read this, thank a teacher. If it's in English, thank a veteran. Happy Veteran's Day !!! and Thank You for your service... Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you, Jesus Christ and the American Soldier. One died for your soul; the other for your freedom. |

Many fine men and women who could not read, who spoke little english, and were not christian have served, fought and died, ...for this great nation. I have seen, heard and smelled dead and dying muslim and jewish GIs wearing our flag on the shoulder of their BDUs, and their blood was as red as my own. this day is not about religious or cultural agenda, it is about honouring those whom have served this GREAT nation.

I'm going to open a can of worms. After seeing this picture do some of you feel the American flag should be made outside the USA. I'm sure these to soldiers care. They both fought and sacrificed for our freedom and the flag stands for what they fought for. |

After watching the movie "Flags Of Our Fathers"; I have a deeper respect for what our flag stands for, rather than where it may be fabricated. This thread is dedicated to the memory of those who have past on and to let the living know that they are appreciated... |

It is not just for the Yanks actually Jon. Yesterday was Armistice Day. Today is Remembrance Day. Both are very important dates in the UK calendar. But both events are not exclusive of the UK. My apologies for uniting our common goals to commemorate peace hard fought around the world. This perhaps was the wrong thread. Respectfully, Sean. |

Sean- you're 100% correct in your citation of the unified intent of the holdiay. I would like to apologize to you for any xenophobic 'corrections' from any of my countrymen. By the 19th. century, there have been very few wars in which the UK wasn't fighting side-by-side with it's much larger son, America. Today is about the vets, and when one considers, especially, the two world wars, one is immediately reminded of the alliance of, (but not limited to,) the US and the UK. were it not for the collaboration of both nations in both conflicts, the axis powers would most likely have prevailed, and the geopolitical butterfly effect, amplified by the past half-century, would have rendered 21st century England and America unrecognizeable. Odd how some find it OK to allow the holiday to be identified with a singular religion, language and creed, while opining intolerant of acknowledging our great nation's most loyal ally in both world wars. Without the UK, tens of thousands more american GIs would have perished in both world wars, and the commonality in both valour and victory can be neither ignored nor denied. ...you won't find many vets complaining about comemorating the UK's service and sacrifice. -jay |

Certainly a day of remberance to those who have served and to those who fallen. Leo - I am about to go for a ride to Yarnell AZ. and maybe to Prescott. Some of the ride is a bit twisty, but you and any of the other guys want to join me, you are more than welcome. I will buy breakfast at the Ranch House Cafe at the top of Yarnell hill. Thank you and all who are serving for being there. (Message edited by bcordb3 on November 12, 2006) |

The Mothership has a Special Editions program honoring American Veterans that was announced three months ago but that I just became aware of. Here is the web page with the photos and of the details of the Patriot Special Edition motorcycles: http://tinyurl.com/ym5mdh And a link to the press release with details about the edition and how people can qualify to buy them: http://tinyurl.com/ox3dr I realize some will see this as a merchandising scheme. But I think I can see a sincere intent in it and find it consistent with the MoCo's history. I'd like to think that there won't be any "poser veterans" on them. Hmmm, I wonder if the kids have ordered my Christmas present yet? The FLHX would be about right I think. :> Jack |

No, Sean...I'm the one who will apologize. I didn't mean to belittle the service of others or overlook them. I forgot about Armastice day and wanted to preserve the Veteran's day theme of the thread. I meant no disrespect for others. |

I was busy all weekend and didn't see this thread until this morning. I also offer my sincere thanks to all of the veterans and those currently serving at home and abroad. If it so moves you please check out http://patriotguard.org. I was on my 5th mission on Saturday with the Patriot Guard Riders to stand in honor of Sgt Charles "CJ" McClain in Follansbee, WV. Without getting long-winded, I believe this was the best use of my time on a rainy Veteran's Day. |
