I bought a D&D muffler for my '00 S3 to replace my cracked Vance & Hines one. I know I need the Y hanger for the front but I'm not sure about the rear since the V&H was installed when I bought the bike. I'm thinking there was a stock rear bracket that I now need to mount up the D&D? If so, anyone have one they'd part w/?
Thanks,
Trish

when i bought the hanger upgrade kit it came with the rear hanger, i don't know if it's the one you need but you're welcome to it, i have a force pipe and it has it's own little setup.

Good to hear. I've got the new hanger on the way so hopefully I should be set.
Thanks for your help Tripp.

Trish,
If you buy the complete Y-bracket kit(Part# S1001.01A1) it's going to also come with this odd little plate with two threaded holes. It's meant to relocate the voltage regulator on the M-2 (and maybe the S-3... I don't know... I threw mine away. I have an S-1).

Thought you might appreciate the heads-up.

If you happen to just have the Y-bracket mount (no kit) the updated voltage regulator mounting bracket is available separately for about $5.

Well since you asked about the rear lets start there...

On the rear engine mount (that holds the swing arm too) there are two rubber bushings inside onwhich a "Z" bracket is installed.

This is where the stock exhaust and most other slip-ons install.

BUT

On a V&H it is removed and V&H's bracket installed...

I believe you need this bracket to install the D&D, most V&Hs I have seen installed forgot to remove the Z bracket so you may be in luck.

All I know is that the tabs on the D&D do not line up with the rear bracket that is on there right now--it looks like the Z bracket had been replaced w/ the V&H one.

This is what I have ordered for the front from American Sport Bike, part no. 17036. I really do hope it comes w/ the rear hanger as Tripp said (for the price, it should). Y bracket, Z bracket, L bracket...I just wanna ride!!!

Does the bracket on there now look like a offset U with a slot in it?

If so then yes you need a Z Bracket.
If Dave is not able to get you one right away I do have one layin around in the garage...

Trish,
How bad is your old V&H?
I'm looking for one for a project.

I may have the bracket you need. Maybe we can work out a trade?

Thanks for all the help--I do have the offset U bracket so I need the Z bracket, which I ordered today.

I do have someone interested in the Vance&Hines already but if he doesn't take it, I'll get in touch w/ you Brad. It's not beyond repair.

Oui oui, Tramp!

Tim,
Long time no see!!!
How you been?
I'm interested in your V&H.
I have a race header for my S2, I need a V&H to modify it to fit,
I'll need to shorten it and remove the elbow.

Let me know!

Thanks

Brad
