November 8, 2006 Erik Buell to Attend Milan Motorcycle Show Buell Radical Contest Party Set for Wednesday, November 15, at Milan Fashion Café East Troy, Wis. (November 8, 2006) – Buell Motorcycle Co. founder and Chief Technical Officer Erik Buell is excited to travel to Milan, Italy, for the EICMA 64th Annual International Motorcycle Exhibition. The public days of the show are November 16-19, but Buell will attend the two press-only days, November 14-15. Since he will not be available during the public days, Buell Motorcycle Company is hosting the Buell Radical Contest Party on November 15 at Just Cavalli Café, Viale Camoens, in Milan. Erik Buell will be on hand, as well as Buell stunt rider Craig Jones, who will be performing at the Milan show. The party will be open to journalists and Buell dealers from 8-10 p.m., then open to Buell owners, sportbike enthusiasts of all brands and the public after 10 p.m. Harley-Davidson Italia, the Italian subsidiary for Harley-Davidson and Buell motorcycles, sponsored a contest earlier this year asking dealers to customize a Buell motorcycle. The top nine entries will be on display at the party. Erik Buell will judge and announce the winner, who will receive a special award and will have their motorcycle on display at the Buell stand during the public days of the show. It has been three years since Erik Buell, the creative genius behind the innovative Buell motorcycles, has been to the Milan show. He is excited about the growth of Buell sportbikes in Italy, and in Europe overall. “We’ve been selling Buell motorcycles in Europe since 1996 and Italy is a key market for us,” said Buell. “We look forward to continued growth and expansion of the brand throughout Europe, where the twisty roads are perfect for the responsive handling and low-end torque of Buell motorcycles.” Maybe he'll go ahead and finalize that Ducati acquisition while he's there! Milan's a beautiful place- when you're in the city's centrum. otherwise, it's essentially an expanded version of newark but with a smoggy view of the alps. |

Tramp, still lots of farmland within 15 minutes of the city center. Not quite as Newarkesque as you might think. Granted there are highly industrialized ares of the city proper, but the suburbs are also some of the quaintest places. I love Milan, my home away from home. I can even understand and butcher the local dialect. |

>>>He is excited about the growth of Buell sportbikes in Italy, and in Europe overall. That's a very accurate statement. |

Milan is also hosting The International Forum on 2-wheel motor vehicles this year as well as a USA Seminar. On the morning before the Show is officially opened, a Seminar on the US motorcycle market will be held at the Fair premises. It will be have a technical-commercial approach, focussing the attention on a market with great potential, which perhaps is not fully expressed as it is not sufficiently known. Participants include, among others, Robin Hartfield, Editor-in-Chief of "Motor Product News", Vincent Marazita, analyst and Eicma representative in the US, and Fortunato Celi Zullo, Director of the Italian Foreign Trade Commission (ICE) in Los Angeles. And Mr Buell serving pizza just like momma use to make. Rocket |

Italicus: Thank you for the pictures, it looks like you guys had a great time. Also, thank you for the warm reception you and your countrymen showed Erik. I'll see him tomorrow and fully expect to have to prop toothpicks under his eyelids to keep him awake after doing the Wisconsin-Milan-Wisconsin trip in under 72 hours. If your travel ever brings you to New York City, let me know. I'd love to take you to East Troy for a day and take you on a tour of the Buell factory. Thank you, Court |

Thanks for posting the pictures. With that smile on your face I can tell you were having a good time. Wish I had been there! I'd know to know you opinion of the new Buell XB12STT that was introduced at the show. How do it think it will be accepted in Europe? Paul |

Hey! the same graffiti artist I saw in Wisconsin is vandalizing bikes in Italy now Seriously though, sounds like a rough trip. Just as he starts to get over jet lag in Italy it's time to come home and be jet lagged there. It looks like our Italian brothers and sisters showed Erik a good time though Even bringing parts of "non-existant" Buells for him to sign! |

I've visited with a couple folks in Italy and Erik landed about 90 minutes ago. It sounds like the Italians just raised the international bar in terms of warm and gracious welcomes. I don't even know who all those folks are but I'm all of a sudden itching to go to Italy. Court (HINT: It would behoove badweb, motorcycing and mankind in general for you guys to start begging Italicus to share the picture of the Italian group....er, the one showing some of the Italian women. ) |
