I have a problem with my shield fogging up on me. Anybody got any solutions? I've thought of Rain X anti fog but don't know if it will screw up my shield. I have also been looking at kneedraggers.com and have looked at their "Respro foggy" mask and Fog City Hyper Optics Photochromatic Face shield sticker. Has anyone used any of these before and how did you like them. |

THe Hyperoptics Shield is great for cold weather and daytime use. I have a hard time using it at night because of the glare. You won't have to worry about fog at ALL if get one. Plus it gives you something to do with your clear shield that came with your helmet. Smokescreen |

Hey Dark Lord, I have a Foggy mask and of all the things I have tried so far to keep my glasses fog free it works the best. You will have to work at the adjustment. Once you get it right it is great, however the process of getting it there can be nerve racking. Oh and please remember if you get one to take off your helmet you need to reach through your open shield. Grab the top of the foggy with your hand and pull out just enough to clear your face BEFORE removing your helmet. I did not have this advice the first time I removed my helmet. It looked like someone smacked me between the eyes with a stick. It lasted for a few days, and yes my unsympathetic wife giggled every time she looked at me. |

Agreed the Respro is a faff, it really didn't fit when I used it with my ole RX7. Last year I bought an AGV with a gen-u-ine AGV anti fog - it never, ever mists up. |

Take look a Scorpion helmets and their anti-fog visors. They really work! Myself, my girl and several others we ride with all have and wear the Scorpions and swear by them. They are very fair priced and well worth the money. I have an red EXO 400 with a gold tinted visor. The visors are quick detach and the liners are fully removable for cleaning. DOT and SNELL approved. |

Dark....what kind of helmet do you have..... I have the Respro and it does as advertised.....I find it uncomfortable especially up under the eyes. If you have a shoei helmet they make a lense system that is fog free. Not the only problem I have is my glass fog instead of the face shield. |

Lost, I have a Buell helmet (Dot and Snell cert) full face. I just looked inside and the bstrds.. it's made in Korea. Beach, I just might start looking at these Scorpions your talking about. Do you have to specify an anti fog visor or is it std? Looks like the Fog City and Respro is the way to go if I don't want to get a new lid. Thanks to all, Praise the Lord for Bad Web |

I used Fog City with very good results till it got cold enough that my glasses wouldn't stay clear. That is when I went to the Foggy. If your problem is just the visor I would say, go buy a new visor and put a Fog City on. Have any of you guys from the great white north ever tried a heated helmet on a motorcycle? I have been told they are out there for snowmobiling. Sorry for the high-jack but I thought if they exist it might be another option. (Message edited by xbduck on November 08, 2006) |

The current Buell helmets are KBC's VR-1 model helmet. The respro foggy does work, but as was said it takes some adjustment to get it right. |

If you want to, use baby shampoo like a plastic polish inside the face shield. Keeps it from fogging up for maybe an hour. You can also use Sea Drops or similar scuba diving mask de-fogger. Convenient squeeze bottle too that fits in the pocket. Foggy is a good mask and works as advertised. |

you can also spit on the inside of your face shield and rub it around in a pinch, just like you would a diving mask. |

I would recommend the Respro Foggy Shield too if your helmet did not come with a similar shield. I am currently riding with H/D's Carbon Fiber FXRG (Made by HJC), and it came with a face shield very similar to the Respro. Anyway, it works like a charm and I couldn't imagine using a full-face helmet without one. Good luck curing your fogginess. |

I know a couple guys using the Respro Foggy and thought I've used the Sea Drops scuba mask cleaner, it just doesn't last long. I'm not gonna park the bike in cold weather so... gotta get something that works better than wiping the inside of the shield with Sea Drops or baby shampoo every hour. |

For fog, I just open the vents. At a stop light, crack the visor open just a bit, and then close it after taking off. Right now I am wearing a HJC AC-12, and with the under chin net type thing, my face stays warm even in the 20-30 something degree weather with the vents open. I have a Arai RX7 on order (Tucker Rocky is having a clearence on some of the models with older graphics, see your shop, or better yet mine, for details), so I will see how that works. Agreed Slaughter, I want something pretty much maintenance free. Stopping every hour to recoat the shield doesn't seem feasible. I think I'm going to go ahead and order the respro for now and try it, although I might still look at a new lid. Thanx guys |

Found an HJC product that is pretty similar to the Respro Foggy. Universal Breath Box (08-988) http://www.calsportbike.com/cgi-bin/store/index.cg i?cart_id=490582.7285&pid=1475&count=1 Supposedly it fits all full-face helmets. I've got some time today to do some googling. Winter in the mountains is nearly on us, ice in the AM and being CA, we not only ride all year but race every month so... gotta do something! |

How about a heated face shield, with an integral drop shade?

Thanks Chainsaw, that's just what I was thinking. I had only seen them in outlet or discount catalogs and I wasn't certain just how they worked. |
